if I may interject and offer my hypothesis.

Pakistan is an addict, it is addicted to the idea “parity with Bharat”. Just like an drug addict promises anything in drug councillor’s office to get a clean chit on paper, Pakistan will promise anything to get out of whatever the trouble they are in at that point in time. Being an addict, next trouble is never far away.

this cycle is not gonna end anytime soon.

While I would have agreed with you if this deal was signed under any other circumstance, it seems unlikely right now. Doval being involved, this coming on the heels of Chinese disengagement, Paki internal front(Balochistan, PoK, Waziristan), along with the Indian 0.5 front being active.

Your hypothesis may be right, but my gut feeling, coupled with what I have mentioned in the last few posts, make me feel that it is something else, much bigger.

P.S. Has @Hellfire posted anything on this? Would be cool to hear his opinion on this over here in DFI.

At NSA level etc..there will always be back channel talks with different nations..even enemy nations...as thats how they function. It should never be a surprise.. Security agencies of all nations work that way..
Media should never make it even a news cuz thats how National Security agencies work...they work behind the scenes.

The point to watch is..how long this peace gesture will last and how much will we gain over pakistan during this time.

I think there wont be a "starting" of peace process.
The CFV has stopped for time being.. thats all
No peace process till pakistan vacates poK and opt for a plebiscite. There wont be peace without pakistan vacating poK and stop funding terror inside Jammu Kashmir.
