Americans always want instability in the region which helps them sell weapons. Although now Afghanistan chapter is closed. From Vietnam, to Iraq, to Afghanistan Americans fought everywhere where their interest lied. Now their interest lies in Indo-Pacific and now their enemy is China not USSR pre-1991, not insurgencies post 1991 and now China.
