To some extent it is correct. Battles of the past weren’t based on religion. Marathas had Muslim regiments and even Portuguese commanders. The Mughals and other Muslim kings had Hindu commanders and regiments. Only after Pisslam (porki Islam) in the form of Muslim league was created in 1920s/30s , was a rigid line drawn between faiths. This is not to say that there were no tyrant Muslim kings like Aurangzeb who persecuted Hindu culture and customs. But Marathas may not have fought Aurangzeb for that. In fact, Ranjit Singh might have some more damage to Muslims and protected Hindus than Marathas may have. Generally speaking, tyrant Islamic kings were fought against by armies of all faiths. Marathas especially had a lot of white commanders and Muslim regiments to build a potent fighting force with latest equipmen [the Portuguese gave them that]. Overall post Muslim league pisslamistan is not comparable to historical wars in Bharat varsha.
