Because behind the scenes deals were done. Russians and Chinese pretty much favored the Taliban to the point that Ghani had no choice but getting out. Behind the Taliban’s rapid advances, there is a Russian hand. And the ANA knew they cannot fight that without US counter support. The thing is the Russians and Chinese were trying to bog down the US in Afghanistan making them lose billions more dollars. Afghanistan is not a simple Taliban versus the Republic government, it has been about the US versus Russia and China.

Man, I was not focusing on the Americans. But pointing out the inept performance of the ANA. They had much superior weaponry vis-a-vis the Taliban along with numerical superiority.

Is there a rule that only a Talibani Pashtun can fight but not an ANA Pashtun.

Why try to hold on to the entire territory of Afghanistan when they should have assessed what was defensible and concentrated forces around the capital Kabul, Mazae- e-Sharif(which has a Tajik majority) etc. Where they could resupply without any threat from the Taliban and maintain the logistic chain.

I am not saying that they could have held on for decades. But the inevitable could have been postponed for months or maybe even a few years. Why give the Taliban an easy victory. The tide in favour of the Taliban could have changed in a year.

The situation could have degenerated into a stalemate. With neither the Taliban nor the Government being able to defeat each other and both governing their respective areas of control.

There have been many instances in history of determined armies holding on to positions for years even in the face of overwhelming enemy power.

Also many instances of well equipped armies capitulating under pressure and unnecessarily gifting victory to the enemy.

The ANA seemed to have lost the war even before it started.

My pov is that they'd not rather like to implement their schemes immediately coz they still are trying to be the big bitch with a huge stake in ongoing T2.0 post reformation process hence the charade this morning that they will observe the world leaders stance and then make a call about recognition.

If knowing them and due to their current confidence level I would pitch for in 2 - 3 months they will increase influx of terrorists but they may wait to open the gun fire themselves for sometime till they get clear picture about Taliban getting recognised and then they will try to do a big blast in India and if Taliban is recognised then they will definitely start lobbying for legitimacy of terrorist organisations in Kashmir considering thier thinking, they will pitch the example of Taliban to do that if Taliban can be recognised then why not this organization (whatever they name it).

Last three times they tried that in cahoots with the opposition here they failed so badly the opposition has no clue where to begin introspection.
