PM candidate is someone who is popular, good orator, and has a strong reputation. ChadShankar ticks all three boxes.

Yogi is perceived as an illiterate extremist outside UP, Gadkari is good but he is too passive, so not really popular or a good orator.
Indians dont want another Indian PM with a foreign wife. One PM and his wife was enough.

People shouldn't go by attire of CM of UP. Administration wise he is well managing a State which has a large population of a particular peaceful community and a history of Lawlessness. He is also popular in Karnataka, Telangana, Punjab, Maharashtra.

Modi was more extremist in his speeches than Yogi during his chief ministership of Gujarat. And
less we talk about Gadkari the more better it will be. He is like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, neither feared by either Opposition or Lutyens media. He can be compromised easily just like Vajpayee.

Neither Jaishankar or Gadkari can bring people to vote for BJP.

Modi might favour Jaishankar or Smriti Irani in the end. But the last decision will be with Sangh pariwar.

Is he?while i support bjp (somewhat because we don’t have an opp)i don’t think bjp leaders will make him a pm this quickly next is probably either yogi or gadkari ji
Yogi ji will take long time to become PM and I don't see Gadkari ever becoming PM.

Jaishankar also needs all Stars to aligne together to become PM. He has a very short window to become PM if ever.

IMO only a mass leader who can win LS and with good political acumen should be made a PM.
I like the current model where you fill important ministries with bureaucrats while using the mass leaders to keep a stable govt.
The only leaders I see right now who suits this are Shah, Yogi, Irani and in the longer run HBS and Annamalai.
Yogi is my preferred choice should Shah graciously agree to continue doing the legwork and not see it as a ‘demotion’.
Yogi is following the same trajectory as Modi and in fact even bettering it given he has a better launch pad.
Undefeated, and like you said mass popularity and stability in a state with such a huge green population along with economic growth. He also has the most demand for rallies outside UP after Modi.
I personally have no problem with him wearing the saffron, it would be quite a sight in G20/G7 and other foreign meetings.
Instead of complaining on the attire, better to grab popcorn and enjoy the meltdown in r/India and X :)

Modi was a terrific CM (among the very best the republic has ever experienced). Gujarat was just getting started with its miracle growth era and he took it to its zenith. He cleaned up the electricity sector, carried out massive greenfield infrastructure projects, bullied landowners into submission (an extremely politicised exercise in the rest of India) and built giant industrial parks. So much so that The Economist once wrote, "So many things go right in Gujarat that it doesn't quite 'feel' like it is in India."

Barring L&O and a few greenfield expressways, Yogi has very little to boast about (as of yet). A popular mass leader? Heck yes! But I don't see him matching up Modi's legacy anytime soon.

Nobody is saying that he will matchup with Modi's legacy soon.

Biggest achievement of Yogi so far is changing country’s perception of UP.

He will age out before he can ever become a PM candidate and therefore according to BJP rules, he has to retire and become an elder statesman.

Wrong analogy. What's the base YA starts with as compared to Modi as CM ? Gujarat even before Modi was an industrialised state in ways UP would never be even in the next 10 years.

YA's job then is to create an enabling ecosystem for industry to thrive , for the next generation to take the baton & run forward using whatever YA's built as a spring board.

That would be his singular biggest achievement if he gets there.

One of the factor that people ignore is...Gujarat is a Coastal state and have major Ports both govt and private. It's Kandla port is 2nd ranked in Cargo handling.

Most of the coastal states (not all) are Industrialised states and economically better.

UP is a landlocked state in first place.

Economically better? Explain Gerala then. Or Odisha until fairly recently or even AP post partition or WB. By your metric, Haryana, Delhi & Punjab until the 90s fail the test. Yet we know that's not the case in reality.

BJP understands optics better than any political party in India (perhaps AAP but that's because western powers are helping them).

Yogi is perceived as an illiterate extremist outside UP, Gadkari is good but he is too passive, so not really popular or a good orator.
In entire Hindi belt people only see Yogi as true successor of Modi maybe except Gujrat where people might prefer Shah. Ground level BJP supporters will always say Modi jayega to Yogi aayega.
In rural area people don't even know who is Jayshankar and no one really cares about foreign policy and chad statements.
JS have 0% chances of being PM now after delimitation it's -ve.
