I don't know why people keep crying Pathankot attack was our failure, it was handled pretty solidly in fact. We had prior intelligence, and NSG was on standby. The only failure was terrorists were able to scale the wall somehow and get into the base. Once they got into the base & attacked the soldier's mess, base QRT quickly reacted and contained them till NSG arrived to finish them off.

Failure was response time. NSG had to fly in from manesar, where as a Para SF team was on standby present in Punjab (iirc 1 para SF), but internal battle between MOD and MHA prevented them from deploying.

I will say though. The scaling of the base definetly needs to be evaluated. They managed to get to the mess hall undetected.

It's kinda disappointing cause .. the Taliban shot their load so to speak on some trainers . Another attack on any frontline assets will be more difficult.
I now realise why many airbases in India are colocated with some kind of army /crpf/bsf base .

Typically porkie defenses are weak, since we don't ever go offensive and are always defensive. Infilitration of jihadis and yahoos happen from porkland to bharath. So with their typical 1 sullah = 5 bania attitude, their defenses are bound to be weak
