I don't think he would go there to beg the release, he was there to asses the situation and give a report on possible commando action, because NSG was ready. Which was later called off by the PM due to media/public pressure.

After 1962, DGS trained many women from villages in Uttarakhand inadvance combat under WATS program. Similar model can do the job.
