More Indians need to really appreciate events like this, where the security forces have intercepted or discovered large and/or deadly amounts of weaponry. By now, there would have been hundreds of captures of armaments, over 3 decades. The Indian public has to think, and moreover remember, achievements like thwarting terrorist strikes. Particularly anytime accusations are hurled at the military and police. Just think a little, what the consequences would have been, had those recoveries of arms not been achieved. This is merely one of hundreds.

interesting note Ukrainans fitted AGM-88 HARM on MIG's to attack Russian AD systems.

Russian radar would have captured the signature of NATO aircraft and Russia would have escalated the issue.
Maybe it's the cynic in me, but I wouldn't get my hopes up on IAF doing anything spectacular in the event of hostilities. Barring some heroic exceptions, they will always come up with excuses like they did on that fateful Feb 27th. IA is the real juggernaut and everyone in the neighborhood fear us for that.
