Most likely the withdrawal is just for show, while the Chinese are still there in underground tunnels and facilities. After the Chinese saw the US bombing of Iraq, they became very paranoid and started investing heavily in underground construction and protection. In Tibet they have underground facilities protected by a composite layered material made of a special hardened steel, concrete, etc that can withstand a nuclear blast. The buildings that are visible in Galwan Valley are just the top surface decoys; their actual facilities are probably tens of meters below ground protected by several layers of hardened steel composites, so they are well-protected from bombing. The way to get them is to drill into them through underground tunnels. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese are continuing digging tunnels into the Indian side even as they withdraw above ground.

Inside China Tech: with India’s app bans and US reshoring, are Chinese tech lifelines being cut?
  • India bans 59 Chinese mobile apps, including TikTok and WeChat, amid border disputes
  • US companies looking to reshore manufacturing out of China amid worsening bilateral relations and the pandemic
India should have already announced it's plans to accommodate these companies. All of them will go to Vietnam and Indonesia.

With PM Oli under fire, Nepal removes 2 new border outposts near Uttarakhand

The Nepal Sashastra Prahari (NSP) or Nepal Armed Police which was manning six new border outposts set up along border with India near Dharchula area of Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district have withdrawn two of them a few days ago, state government officials said on Monday.

The development has come amid reports of Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli coming under attack from his ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for his anti-India posture. A standing committee of the NCP was also to hold a meeting to decide Oli’s future on Monday but was postponed till Wednesday.

This seems to be current sentiment of the establishment and the fact about de-escalation...surprisingly he stands alone amongst the twitteratis on this...I kind of trust this feeling of establishment. Not saying that he is the voice of establishment but might be close to it. He did write that cryptic tweet about PM's Ladakh visit.

I have a different vision of the future. October 2020: China attempts to take a stab at Bhutan, the King signs the Instrument of Accession, armed with Meteor-tipped Rafales, R-77 SD-tipped Sukhois/MiGs, and a swarm of AAD systems of various shapes and sizes India keeps PLAAF at bay; while Indian Army eats PLA-Girlfriends for breakfast. Nepal will lose 15% of its easternmost territory, and the chicken's neck will be renamed elephant's neck.

Oh, and Trump wins.
For the time being let us leave Bhutan out.... No harm coming from that front... India has taken Defense of Bhutan unto herself... so It is the Indian Army which has to fight the battle there whether it is the King or it is not.... The Chinese pronouncements will bring Bhutanese people nearer to Indians... so let it be...

Don't put any rhetoric or abuse in the comment section. It will only make us look pathetic, weak and insecure.

US flexes military muscle at China as Beijing draws down in its border spat with India.

WASHINGTON: The United States is flexing its military muscle at China on behalf of India and other Asian allies and partners, amid signs that Washington is finally ready to take some punitive action against Beijing for its role in spreading the coronavirus pandemic around the globe.

In the clearest sign yet that the Trump White House will not back down from its position as a pre-eminent power in the Pacific and beyond, Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows told Fox News on Monday that the US military "will continue to stand strong whether it's in relationship to a conflict between India and China or anywhere else."

"We're not going to stand by and let China or anyone the take the reins in terms of being the most powerful dominant force, whether it's in that region or over here," Meadows said, disclosing the President Trump is on course to sign executive orders to "make sure that China is addressed, how we bring manufacturing back from overseas to make sure the American worker is supported."

I think it is safe to say, ultimately the inflection point in this round of escalation is what them boyz of 16 Bihar & 3 Punjab did to PLAGF on the night of 15/16 June 2020.

as I always keep saying, Few Good Men.. it always boils down to a few good men.
What happened on June 15 demonstrated to the Chinese that India and the Indian armed forces were not going to roll over this time.

Two other factors
The Chinese would have by then realized from their own ISR that both the IA and the IAF had deployed heavily across the front. So this would not be a quick smash and grab victory of territory with conflict localized to a small area say the Depsang Plains. But a very large conventional conflict stretching all across the India-Tibet frontier.

The ongoing US Navy exercises in the SCS. There was no guarantee either way that the US would stay out or join in if India China hostilities began. That added a huge element of uncertainty to the Chinese plans.

So they have decided to de-escalate for now. But for how long? Their goals, whatever they are remain the same.

Pretty HD visuals. Theres a lot to the story

I get sick by mare look at these pictures... Our boys at least could have worn duck back types rain shoes or at least the snow boots as those are also water proof... getting wet on the icy water is not on..

However both types of shoes make walking on those river bed round boulders a big pain...only DMS can take that stress...

Look at those deep gorges... simply claustrophobic. And the PLA bring their city dwelling boys there . one can go crazy in a few days man....

Ho Ke Mazboor Mujhe ... moments...

That explains how the mysteriously water of galwan river was disappearing and appearing. just flood those tunnels.

@rockdog can you post the link of this video....
=======
#China's CCTV4 news network releases a special program titled "How did #China defend the sovereignty and stabilize the situation in the #GalwanValley incident?" .. shows on ground images with alleged visuals of #India's attempts to create an alleged helipad

It seems that nowadays china needs to justify a lot to her people particularly after the 15th june incident when their weak soldiers were slaughtered like pigs. Chines are in shock after their so called macho army was badly thrashed by Indian army.
