My point is, unless we're looking at the technicality of whether it was a declared war, those soldiers were MIA by this definition.

LoL. I am not taking about 'any' of the possibilities but 'which one' among the possibilities is the 'outcome' in 'certainty'.
If you can attribute one of the possibilities on a soldier with certainty, you cannot use the 'may', which indicates possibility or rather you being uncertain of the outcome.

You raised the nonsensical argument that people are more interested in Sushant Rajput than India China dispute.

It is a common sense that we didn't display Chinese prisoners because some of our guys are in their custody.
Chinese are no saints that they won't use our captured soldiers for selected leaks for their PR purposes.
