publically its "everything ok - peace and tranquillity at border" , privately both sides are preparing for next India-China war.

There has been a slight renowned focus on the central sector (Uttrakhand/Himachal), as China seems to be strengthening its weakest area on LAC.

Apart from that, both Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh are essentially locked. Troops are ready on both sides if required. Knowing China, they don't fight a war unless they have overwhelming superiority and a probability of winning, so the focus will probably now turn to other areas (e.g., Pakistan, internal unrest, the Indian Ocean, etc.).

eastern ladakh is going great . in himachal at kaurik we are building something-something , place was visited by Rawat and new chief , its an indian stronghold - i think if war happens we will do major offensive there .

arunachal pradesh seem to be going slow . couple of ITBP forward posts were sanctioned , no news on if they came up or not . a new mega road close to LAC is planned there - no news on if construction started or not.

Unrelated but some years ago I visited the Viceregal lodge in shimla, one of the most beautiful places in the world to live and work. It is the site of the former viceroy holiday home, and is currently owned by the president's estate.
Lo and behold you find out there's some 'institute of advanced studies' operating there. One always wonders what kind of scholarship is going in these places?
Seemed like an idyllic parking spot for south delhi/ south bombay/ Chandigarh types to enjoy state funded PHD vacation.

If we are not convinced (and make it known that we hate China), how are we going to take the next steps ? USA was ready to turn QUAD into a military alliance, but we did not commit and kept obsequiously talking with China while they are rallying their Army on the LAC.

Second, who said we don't have the capability to hurt them? After USA, we are the most promising candidate for hurting China, whether it be overt or covert.

I have no problem with us talking about Uyghurs or Dalai Lama as long as we are prepared to deal with China's support for Pakistan, Bangladesh, Internal elements like Indian Islamists, Commies etc

If we lack those capabilities and still mouth off, we are the ones who'll be net losers.

Start confronting China openly AFTER we have our capabilities sorted.

How? Can you explain how can we actually hurt China?

1) Are we capable of taking back Aksai Chin?

2) Are we capable of liberating Tibet?

3) Are we capable of waging war on the ground near their population centres?

They are already doing that, and they are doing it for the last few decades if you haven't noticed.

I know they are doing it and they'll continue to do it.

What's the equivalent capability of ours? Can we fund Uyghurs? Can we help Taiwan?
