I think we should retaliate now.

Go heavy and act swift.

Capture and hold ground and wait for UN to come in.

Talks are not working and our image of being strong and powerful are being hurt.
our image is actually the opposite and it's being reinforced through China's antics. What we need to do now is to act swiftly and make not only our nation secure but also those nations who pin high hopes on us to counter a maniac bully.

U.S. intelligence report on Trump-Biden election meddling reveals who Russia, China and Iran want to win

  • Russia is trying to “undermine” presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s candidacy, a leading U.S. intelligence official said Friday.
  • But China and Iran want President Donald Trump to lose the election, said William Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center.
  • Evanina warned that “foreign states will continue to use covert and overt influence measures” to affect the presidential election.

Thats the choice we made.. We still have heavy heavy russian involvement in our SSBN Proejct, Aircraft carrier maintenance, S - 400 which entails close Indo-Russian colloboration for decades.. Americans fear us bleeding edge technology falling into russian hands through India... So, obviously, we wont be getting their best technology..

Hope this was not posted before. Nitin/Strat news claiming that chinese build up does not makes sense near doklam. The build up is illogical, they have just massed up build up there with no advantage. So my previous assumption that we may lost advantage in that location no longer looks valid.

American system works in weird ways. They can still grant an exception for India.
But I think purchases now may not have much effect as timelines are very compressed. India has enemy at the door. Only transfer from inventory (or better intelligence sharing / joint ops) can work.

Military pact with USA is probably not feasible for India. This is not a doomsday scenario though.

USA can still work with India in a lot of ways with equal effectiveness. It all depends how American administration acts.

Would hate to see TikTok back as a Microshaft owned company.

If Trump was indeed sincere, he would ban it right away instead of giving it a long lease.

Nothing gives me greater joy than to see Chinese hard work go up in smoke like they did to several well known businesses across the world through industrial espionage.
Actually, I'm in favor of Tik Tok coming back to India as a Microsoft subsidiary, provided they enter a legally binding agreement with the government that the entity does not - and will not - transmit any data to any Chinese company (other than normal transmission of public content), and that it will not censor any politicial criticism of the CCP, PLA, or PRC.

A Microsoft-owned Tik Tok in India would mean better content moderation (no more chicom/jihadi/love-jihad psy-ops), no restrictions on taking a shit on CCP, and it will provide rozgaar to our e-NREGA bumpkins, and atmanirbhar thots. It's a win-win.

What happens to Bytedance? It remains as a minority equity stakeholder. It gets to reap financial dividends from the market, but has no access to non-public user data. This way China makes money from Tik Tok, without having any back-doors to data. The US model will be replicated around the world.

WAR with China is in offing. Just a matter of time. India is entering WAR mode. And this is evident from China's reactions.

There's been quite a bit of literature here regarding 'acting swiftly'.
Act swiftly and do what exactly?

This situation doesn't require a hit and run like Balakot. It requires one to go across the line to a defined area and literally 'squat' for a period of time for everyone to see you exercising control over the territory.

Then comes the question of how large a contingent will be
1) capable to project enough force to hold out any attempts of pushback
2) still not be too big for the Chinese to assume territorial threat and jump the gun to start kinetic action.

I think the problem right now is absence of overlap in these 2 scenarios, and then obviously there's the question of logistics.

This is China trying to stop the drone sale to Taiwan via friendly Senators, probably just a handful of them, the usual pro China suspects. And it is being faithfully reported by the South China Morning Post also trying to curry favor with the CCP. So take it with a bucketful full of salt. This bill will probably not even come up for a vote, because the public mood in the US is decidedly anti Chinese and pro Taiwan. Taiwan and India will get the drones.

Microsoft's discussions relate to Tiktok operations in the US, Canada, Australia and NZ only. So I don't know what will happen to Tiktok in the rest of the world. At least that was in the early negotiating stage. Don't know if current negotiations involve taking over business in the rest of the world.

But the bigger news is the ban in WeChat. That is huge given that WeChat is a superapp and does everything for chat, voice calls, online buying and payments and remittances.

I think there won’t be a Bytedance shareholding whatsoever in the American setup. They tried hard to keep a minority shareholding but were refused by White House officials.

Not in the American context. Used only by the diaspora and some who do business in China but your point on it affecting the Chinese directly through remittances etc is spot on.The parent company Tencent though has a huge presence in the US video game market which, as per latest clarification, is not a target.

As long as Bytedance has a share in TikTok, it has no chance of seeing the light of the day in many nations..

And here I support nations banning it,
After all China banned lot of sites and apps as per it's convenience,

Can't have rogue CCP using laws to openly trample on other nations.

IMO we shouldn't disengage till our infrastructure work along entire LAC is complete. We need to have solid proof (Not patrolling rights😑) to claim that a particular area belongs to us. If it take 2 to 3 years ,so be it.
And if China damages our infrastructure, then we should target CPEC infrastructure.
