Since those are exclusively for R&Sp battalions, IA has already issued an RFI for 200 Whaps for their R&Sp battalions in developed terrain. That will keep NAMICA limited to a maximum 150 in numbers for deserts.

NAMICA may be is big deal for modernization starved Army where the mainstay of anti-tank defense continues to a wire-guided Second generation missile even after sixty years of having commenced research on ATGMs..

Like we declared a negative list of import for many defense stuff, we need to follow same in other civilian domestic sales as well. We have imported so many goods of low tech which we could have easily produced in Nation. After vajpayee ji left in 2004, capital goods import which was just 10 bn USD in vajpayee ji's time shoot up to 70 bn USD in Chiddu's time per year. Out of these stuff imported, 85% of capital goods were such items which we used to produced in India yet we imported. Huge ultra mega power plants were imported from China. Adani imported 4500 MW power plant from China and TATAs imported 4000 MW power plant as well. BHEL could have easily imported it.

This is the time to heavily incentivize aviation sector as this area is going to cost us a very huge amount of outlay in terms of money and foreign exchange outlay. Once our foreign exchange is low, our currency will go down which is an additional indirect cost. Our economic Mantra should be Indigenous production only. It has many advantages over and above economic advantages including employment generation and strategic advantages. In last , this government is taking necessary steps in right direction.

The first step should have been a Negative list of parts and assemblies the OFB, DPSU, and DRDO import in mass to declare their screwdriver jobs to be indigenous. There is no use putting LCH in negative list when it is 80 percent imported, and when even after decades more than 60 per cent of Arjun consist of imported mal.

For all i care.. Nepal can rent their soldiers to anybody.. They rent them to Singapore too.. Does India have a monopopy over Gurkha ass ?
If it comes to pass.. India must stop hiring Nepali Gorkhas, and hire only Indian Gorkhas.. Offer Citizenship to Nepali Gorkhas in Indian Army, if they accept, keep them, if they dont boot them out..
Suspend Frienship treaty and boot every Nepali out of India..

For once it could be good news for India which was not given due weightage by our MEA. That the Chinese are facing problems in maintaining their Chinese Army in Tibet. To obviate that Chinese embarked upon raising BDR and recruiting Tibetan in the Army. And now they are thinking of recruiting Gorkhas to defend Tibet .

Do not blame Gorkhas if they get intp PLA. They will go to any country for employment like the Indians going to Iraq and Afghanistan as US Army Contractor forces in large numbers. Gorkhas have been soldiers all over, Singapore, Hongkong, Brunie, UK and India. The only problem Indian Army face is in comparison in pay and perks and consequently, the best recruitable lad goes somewhere else. The second problem will be compromising ground intelligence when one brother is in Indian Army and the other in PLA. But that can also be exploited by Indian intelligence agencies.. It would provide big opportunities for India to have deep assets inside PLA.

Another advantage is that if consumer purchasing power increases in Nepal it would help the Indian economy no matter what China does.. China can not pay less to Gorkhas. It means cost of holding Tibet will increase fo the Chinese.

Offering citizenship is a big no.... India should not fall in that trap.

It was well known that Chinese soldiers will have difficulties in high altitude Tibet and that led them minimising PLA presence in Tibet .. maximum two divisions at best...

Who bailed them out ? Of course Indian MEA and GoI by entering into five treaties of Peace and Tranquility. By reducing and minimizing the threat to PLA in Tibet by deploying Police Forces along the LAC. What more could they ask for.. ??
When PLA modernized and reorganized first thing they do is pounce on Indian Forces...
I think India's decision to ask General Winter for help will yield some results.

Do u have any proof to support your claim regarding LCH afaik most of the component used in it are indegeneous.
