People here who have even the faintest hope of disengagement, throw them away. This is an obvious bluff.

China did not waste their 9 months sitting in cold and wasting resources just to vacate them peacefully when the winter snow melts.

In the next step once both sides vacate the heights, expect a swift movement by Chinese, probably airborne + mechanized back-up to capture South Bank positions we have taken, because the advantages of South Bank far exceeds rocky out-terrain of finger areas.

The news article of TASS on 45 killed and all these disengagement task, looks like somebody working from behind either Biden or Russia. While its obvious that China is only taking one step back to put 2 step forward , same can't be said for India. The anti china stance will die down in *phazed* manner its not ranting but rather reality.
Hope India never stops the war machinery it has just started.

You are absolutely right. South bank Chinese are vulnerable with moldo garrison overlooked by IA and they're only interested to IA pull back
from South bank as we never had control over north bank beyond F4. Also no mention of other sectors depsang hot springs

In south bank tanks and other weaponry might go back but no way we are vacating heights before complete disengagement happens in all other areas.
Vacating South bank heights will be a blunder of himalayan proportions in any case. We must hold onto it. Does not matter if there is disengagement or not. If we leave it, the Chinese will make sure we never get it back without great costs. Massive Strategic advantages cannot be exchanged for minor tactical gains.

exactly, i have been saying the same thing..

if you think about it, Chinese actually won.. from day 1, they wanted us to vacate and disengage on finger area without them making any commitments on other areas like dbo, hotsprings, depsang plains etc..

and even today, there is no mention of disengagement of above said areas from either side. so we blinked first..

idk how no public mention of disengagement lead you to conclude that we blinked first, it is the Chinese who did it, we couldn't have gotten a better deal for Pangong lake where we hold on to heights and the post at finger 3 and china moves to finger 8 this was always the deal we wanted but was not accepted by China by accepting this now china was the one that blinked and not India had it been India that blinked then the disengagement rules might not have been in India's favour.

A conspiracy theory for those who think external (US, Russia) mediation happened (including me), what if we are being played? Mediators guarantee disengagement, Chinese agree, process begins and then they backstab us in the manner @mist_consecutive explained. Massive loss off face for GOI, mediators ignore Chinese transgression with only stern words, since that was the plan all along. The only solution at that point would be a complete war scenario for us. What happens then?

areas like dbo, depsang plains are more crucial then finger areas. if we loose these areas, it will even threaten Siachen and it will push us further down. we will no longer have leverage over LEH or karokoram hgwy

if u remember the statements made by our side during aug/oct/...

chinese doesn't even want to discuss dbo, depsang plains, hot springs. they insisted on disengagement on finger areas first..

and today we are disengaging without any commitments on other areas.

Chellany very well knows that the issue of Depsang predates the current stand off

PLA's statement referred to an understanding to disengage from just one sector — the Pangong Lake's "south and north banks." China's territorial encroachments, however, occurred in several sectors, including Depsang — an area that has yet to figure in the corps commanders' talks.
for once i agree with this idiot.

Chellaney is a joke, Jayadev Ranade's analysis is more grounded and realistic.
