Building more ships per class actually results in lower per unit cost.
Folks: As economy grows, our federal budget will only increase and defense budget as well. It is not like our economic numbers are going to be static. We will be be able to afford post $5 trillion economy which at the worst we should be there by 2027-2028. Right now we really dont need that many ships as there is no perceived naval threat that we cannot manage together with our Quad partners. Better focus on putting every rupee saved into the economy, especially infrastructure building and revenue generating activities. Or, export more defense goods to finance our defense needs. It is just a matter of a decade. No one is going to wage any major war with us for the foreseeable future, as we already have enough weapons to wreak havoc on the enemy.

Purely for academic purposes, let's see how much such a plan costs(inflation adjusted).
Frigate - 2500 crores
Corvette - 2000 crores
Destroyer - 8000 crores
etc etc..

can you take the rest of the prices of different type of IN boats(latest class) from wiki and multiply with number of boats, and see whats the final cost coming to.

Yes but we don't pay all of these upfront. We pay a bit by bit every year. By the time all these ships are built our economy should be well past $5 trillion - $6 trillion. I think this where forecasting of government income comes in. The problem with our budgeting process is we just look at the next year's budget. That won't work for defense purchases. A different 10-20 year budgeting process is required with economic forecasts for 10-20 years and then seeing whether we can afford it. If we can, then we need to start building today as wasting time means we will only get ships much later. This is where professional project management, budgeting skills, strategy documents, 20 year plans all come together - we have to get sophisticated. We have to behave like how the managers of a $5+ trillion economy will. Right now our processes are so unsophisticated, it is laughable. IAS/IFS are all outdated concepts and won't deliver for the country. We need professionals as officials in the government that deliver like they do in the private sector. IFS is a classic case - they are the worst of the lot. I spoke with the Consul General in NY and also at a public interaction they setup at the UN to meet and greet Indian officials. Not a single IFS official inspired any confidence. Their communication skills, knowledge of global trends, expertise in drumming up business for the country, ability to recognize problems of overseas citizens etc were all abysmal. They don't even promote the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas - a big source of NRI funding into Indian economy.
The IFS, IMHO, is a total, abysmal failure and I am sure by extension the IAS is as well. When you look at the IAS district collectors speak or IAS officials like secretaries in charge of ministries speak at press conferences, you really want to curl up and die. It is cringeworthy and every word that comes out of their mouth shows that they have not properly planned anything and are just winging it, and never firmly committing to tackling huge problems like corruption facing the citizens. Any investor seeing our IAS/IFS officers speak and elucidate concepts will probably just puke all over. The embassy and UN IFS officials especially are a massive joke. With people like those, no one will take us seriously in the international fora. Sad but real.
We are fortunate that PM Modi, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Indian American CEOs etc are acting as a counter balance in getting the right message and policies across, else the world will be laughing at our officials incompetence and won't take us seriously, doubting these guys would be able to plan or implement anything, even if an implementation plan was starting in their face. LOL.

Will Say it all day ad nauseum: The biggest ally of CCP in US is wall street. No amount of blabbering with articles by sec advisors or wat not will change it until they decide to pack up or get booted out by CCP.

The cons of this is there will be economic depression in US without changes(even full scale rioting for essential commodities like toilet paper) or they will have to find alternative cheap labor market to exploit with promise of getting 5-10x increase in capital value in form of sale of goodies in those markets long term. As of now if you shop in walmart or amazon you will be shocked at percent on non "made in china" items in US. All corporate CEO's & lobbyist will be lining up in front of capital hill in case of any panic confrontation between CCP and US.

Chinese propaganda: Chinese soldiers getting one hour oxygen, smirkingly ask if Indian soldiers are being taken care of....

Indian response: video showing soldiers dancing at that altitude ....

Gangster level “propa gandu” stuff.....:)
They were reading something while taking oxygen, i thought script for next shoot in Ladakh.

Sick

Six people, including four doctors, have been jailed in China for illegally harvesting organs from accident victims for the better part of two years, according to reports. The organ theft ring removed kidneys and livers from 11 people in 2017 and 2018 at a hospital in the Anhui province. They obtained consent from the victims’ families with fake consent forms that framed the donations as official rather than for the black market. The doctors specifically targeted car crash victims or patients who had suffered cerebral hemorrhages and sold the organs to both individuals and other hospitals. The son of one victim asked one of the doctors about his mother’s body and said he was offered a large bribe to keep quiet. China has faced a severe shortage of organs for transplants in recent years, especially after halting the practice of harvesting the organs of executed criminals.

This is a great article on how our bureaucrats have undercut the good intentions of PM Modi and his ministers and wreaked havoc all over the place. People on this forum do not understand the amount of pain and disaster our bureaucracy has caused to each one of us. All of us would have been much more richer and happier if not for these pathetic bureaucrats. This insane bureaucrats who have no idea how to create laws and policies, and bungle so many times, are responsible for our defence budget falling from being half of China’s budget to becoming 1/4th of China’s budget, mainly as a result of our bureaucratic fools sitting on files for years and not allowing the economy to grow and prosper. China’s economy was always 3 times ours but these idiots by not reforming themselves let China’s economy become 5 times ours. Time to end the IAS/IFS/IXS crap and get in officers who are very efficient and have true leadership to get the country to greater economic heights.

Much needed step

Interesting... We do have strategic partnership council agreement with them link. Wonder what kind of support we are looking at from Saudi in defence related stuff? May be somehow keeping pakis in check in case of two front scenario.
