From what I understand this provides the Chinese with an alternative road to doklam.

@mokoman @mist_consecutive can you guys clarify or explain please.
We have already discussed abt it in the thread.

My 2 Cents. In order to secure our interest before it's too late, IA along with Bhutanese Army should mount an operation to occupy Jhemperi ridge Line. IA should keep it occupied until situation stabilizes without ceding ground. PLA will force us for status quo but then Jhemperi ridge line is exactly where Chinese perceived boundary passes just like IA operation in south bank of Pangong. Once situation is under control, IA should withdraw and let Bhutanese keep it under its control. This will secure India's interest in the region as well as help Bhutan to avoid further Salami Slicing in the plateau area.
Rest it's all abt political will on both sides. PLA's countermoves on other disputed areas of Bhutan will also need to be considered into the equation. But Doklam is once place which Chinese are eyeing the most, rest of the areas are like pressure points.

India has to be a key partner in engaging China from position of strength: Antony Blinken

WASHINGTON
: India and the US face a common challenge in the form of an "increasingly assertive" China and New Delhi has to be a key partner in engaging with Beijing from a position of strength, believes long-time national security and foreign policy expert Antony Blinken, who could be President-elect Joe Biden's probable pick for the post of the Secretary of State.
............................

Referring to a 2006 statement by Biden that by 2020, US and India should be closest friends, Blinken said that that has not happened yet, but Biden will make it a reality.

US Secretary of State elect

strong words...lets see how much USA means by it.
This guy was a journo at some point..so he also knows very well what the media and people like to hear...
anyway lets wait for some real action by USA

Another website, another 'Map' issue. Marinetraffic dot com appears to be owned by some interesting characters.

I think Adil A(Ashiq) is of Paki origin. Lot of peacefuls in the company.

Should we also start showing China from our POV? I think it is about time.

Glad this round of bans included most of 'Alibabas' remaining henchmen. Govt. needs to set a small team to keep prowling the internet and continue banning all things Chinese.

As for 26% FDI in foreign digital media, it is still too much. Restrict it to 5% and starve the termites.

Not if the Democrats arrest Trump on tax fraud first. A Trump arrest following transition is a foregone conclusion.

If convicted of a felony, Trump cannot run for office in 2024.
Well, at this stage one doesn't need Trump to have Trump in office in 2024.

Trumpian way will be emulated much more. Heck, we might even get people better at being Trump than Trump himself.

India won't respond because if we actually wished to there would never have been a village there.

Both bhutan and India have decided to turn a blind eye towards the situation.
As soon as China built a village there, it became Chinese occupied territory, hence Bhutan no longer has anything to do with it.

The smart thing to do would be for Indian army to occupy the heights around it, and build roads and infrastructure up to the Indian positions. The fact that Chinese are using civilian infrastructure to occupy land means they are trying to avoid another situation similar to Doklam standoff here due to loss of face last time. These are not 10 foot chinamen but 5 foot uneducated malnourished inexperienced soldiers with poor training in real life. This is why PLA is always avoiding escalation beyond occupation.

This is probably the most strategically important area in the entire India-China border conflict.

We are moving towards war. Make no mistake about it.

A proactive Indian government is needed to fast procure arms and ammunition and also work in infra at dazzling speed.

This will come to large-scale war.

China has learned to take advantage of India's unwillingness to start a war. So it keeps occupying areas not previously occupied by Indian/Bhutanese military, giving China an advantage for when it chooses to start a war. India has to be more pro-active in countering Chinese occupation in Indian/Bhutanese territories with its own occupation of the heights/strategically advantageous locations in these areas.

On western front, sure - it is inevitable.

Would love someone game Indo-China war.
If India is not gonna attack, would China take the first step and start the war?
Crossing the Himalayas is easier said than done even with excellent infra.

Most likely they will keep using India's, Nepal's and Bhutan's unwillingness to fight against them by occupying more and more unoccupied territory and building up more towns (with propaganda of it being good for the poor people), bases and well-entrenched positions, depending on what the situation calls for. Why would they stop when they are able to get away with it without any consequences, and without having to fight?
