India Crossed LAC At Seven Places To Bring China To The Negotiating Table, Says Report Citing Officials

India crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh at seven places, a highly placed source has been quoted in the Indian Express as saying.

The report says that Indian forces crossed the LAC to counter transgressions by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) into Indian territory.

“We have crossed over at seven places. Why do you think China is still at the negotiating table?,” the official has said, hinting that the action taken by Indian forces has forced the Chinese to come to the negotiating table.

The Express report adds that India has refused to vacate the heights it took control of (in late August) in the region south of the Pangong Lake. New Delhi has also said that it will not stop infrastructure development in border areas.

India has said it will not move back from the heights it has occupied till China agrees to move back from the area between Finger 4 and Finger 8.
Chinese forces had occupied the area between Fingers 4 and 8, stretching nearly eight kilometers along the north bank of the Pangong Lake, in early May. The area occupied by China was patrolled by both sides till April.

The positions India took control of on the intervening night of 29 and 30 August in the Chushul sector (south of the Pangong Lake) allow it to dominate the area.

During the seventh round of talks between the two sides, the Indian Army has told the PLA that is not going to withdraw from these heights till China agrees to do the same on the north bank of the Pangong Lake.
The Indian Army has argued that these positions must be vacated simultaneously by forces on both sides to mutually agreed locations

Good if true, it is most likely true because otherwise how did the one Tibetan SSF soldier get martyred?
Anyway chinks aren't "negotiating", they are just delaying either for another major surprise offensive or to continue to delay us till Feb-March next year, where we will be forced to accept the newly grabbed areas as being on the Chinese side of the LAC.
No "negotiation" is taking place because inspite of 14 hours sessions of chai-biscoot neither them nor us( thank God ) are budging on our positions.

The consolidation of hill tops + build up at LAC surprised the chongs truly, because they were expecting a Cong govt style cover up with nobody knowing their antics, but now they want to draw out the LAC deployment through the winter and into next year so that the cost of maintaining the deployment becomes unsustainable for India, and we accept whatever "face-saver" they are offering by March-April, atleast that is what their plan is, nobody knows what will happen in the future, even from our side.

When Chinese troops attacked, India's Bravehearts created history with their valour

Remembering the bravehearts of 1962 Sino-Indian conflict

Remembering the bravehearts of 1962 Sino-Indian conflict

New Delhi: The ongoing standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has refreshed the memories of the 1962 Sino-Indian conflict along the heights of the Himalayas. Quite unexpected, India was attacked by the Chinese troops in the Chip chap Valley in the western theatres and along the Namka Chu river in the eastern theatre on October 20, 1962 - 48 years ago on this day.

What began that day and lasted for a month, till, on November 20, 1962, when a ceasefire was declared, came to be known as the Sino-Indian conflict of 1962. Often referred to as the 'Himalayan Blunder' - in line with Brigadier John Dalvi's book with the same name - that followed then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's flawed 'forward policy', the Sino-Indian conflict changed India's outlook towards China for years that followed.

As scantily equipped troops of the Indian army bravely fought the outnumbering Chinese men in conversely proportional mountain warfare, what emerged, besides the military-diplomatic lessons for the political leadership, were tales of bravery, valour and sacrifice in the name of faith and nation. The battle proved that India's gallant armed forces never failed to make the country proud, even in the moment of unsubstantiated political decisions that led to creating the perception of this conflict as a 'debacle'. On this day, we remember some of India's bravehearts who were honoured with the highest military decorations during this historic conflict.

Lt Col Dhan Singh Thapa, PVC: 1st Battalion, 8 Gorkha Rifles

According to his Param Vir Chakra citation, 'Major Thapa was in command of a forward post in Ladakh, when, on October 20, 1962, it was attacked by the Chinese in an overwhelming strength'. In mountain warfare, where, those on the heights overpower those at the slopes, Thapa's post was outnumbered and came under intense artillery and mortar fire from the Chinese side.

Despite three consecutive attacks by the Chinese troops, each time with more firepower, backed by tanks and infantry, Thapa's post retaliated with great force, causing 'heavy losses to the enemy'.

"Major Thapa got out of his trench and killed several of the enemies in hand-to-hand fighting before he was finally overpowered by Chinese soldiers. Major Thapa’s cool courage, conspicuous fighting qualities and leadership were in the highest traditions of our Army," his citation reads. Thapa was held a Prisoner of War (PoW) and subjected to torture by the Chinese. He was released from captivity in November 1962 after the ceasefire. He later rose to the rank of a Lt Colonel and retired from the Army on April 30, 1980. Thapa passed away in 2005 in Lucknow.

Subedar Joginder Singh, PVC: 1 Sikh Regiment
Subedar Joginder Singh was commanding a platoon of Sikh Regiment holding a defensive position at a ridge near Tongpen La in NEFA. In the early hours of October 23, 1962, the Chinese troops launched attacks in multiple waves. The platoon lost half of its men under the Chinese attack.

"Subedar Joginder Singh was wounded in the thigh but refused to be evacuated. Under his inspiring leadership, the platoon stubbornly held its ground and would not withdraw. Meanwhile, the position was attacked for the third time. Subedar Joginder Singh himself manned a light machine-gun and shot down a number of the enemy," reads his citation.

Finally, Singh and his men charged with bayonets but were outnumbered by the Chinese. In Param Vir: our heroes in battle, Major General Ian Cardozo writes that upon hearing about his martyrdom his elder daughter died. Singh's ashes were later sent to India by China in May 1963.

Major Shaitan Singh, PVC, 13 Kumaon
An officer of the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army, Major Shaitan Singh was commanding a company of an Ahir infantry battalion deployed at Rezang La in the Chusul sector at 16,000 feet. Major Singh's company position came under heavy artillery attack from the Chinese side on November 18, 1962. Major Singh was seriously wounded when he 'moved at great personal risk from one platoon post to another sustaining the morale of his hard-pressed platoon posts'.

It was because of his bravery that for every one Indian Army man lost at the battlefield, the enemy lost four or five, the PVC citation reads. "When Major Shaitan Singh fell disabled by wounds in his arms and abdomen, his men tried to evacuate him but they came under heavy machine-gun fire. Major Shaitan Singh then ordered his men to leave him to his fate in order to save their lives," reads his citation.

A tanker by the Shipping Corporation of India was named after Major Shaitan Singh, PVC in 1985 in memory of the braveheart.

In my opinion, the incident of 15th of June was a game changer. After Indian forces attacked Chinese camp and inflicted heavy causality, Chinese are nervous and has lost any courage they had to fight. Even if the conflict happens, Indian forces will fight to protect their land and punish aggressor while Chinese forces will fight to make good the misadventure of a dictator. There will be a great difference in the morale of the two forces even if I do not give advantage to Indian soldiers for being very tough and fighting fit to fight in Himalayas. It will be better for China if they decides to withdraw peacefully.

IAF chief says no war, no peace situation along India-China border in Ladakh

  • Tensions between New Delhi and Beijing have been simmering since May when India first detected multiple Chinese military intrusions into Ladakh. There was also major military buildup across the border inside Chinese territory
NEW DELHI: Indian Air Force chief Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria on Tuesday said the situation along the India-China border was that of "no war, no peace", but the military was prepared for any eventuality.

The "present security scenario along our northern frontiers is at an uneasy no war no peace status. Our defence forces are prepared for any eventuality," the IAF chief said.

Tens of thousands of Indian and Chinese soldiers are locked in a stand-off in eastern Ladakh, the most serious since their 1962 conflict.

Tensions between New Delhi and Beijing have been simmering since May when India first detected multiple Chinese military intrusions into Ladakh. The Indian government also noticed a major military buildup across the border inside Chinese territory which included air defence systems, tanks, fighter aircraft and missiles besides troops.

On 15 June, soldiers of the two countries were involved in a violent clash in which 20 Indian personnel and an unknown number of Chinese troops were killed. Tensions spiralled again in late August as India took vantage positions on some mountain features in Ladakh in a pre-emptive move. Chinese and Indian troops fired warning shots in September in at least two instances – a first in 45 years.

The “no war no peace" situation seems to have come about after the foreign ministers of the two countries met in Moscow on 10 September. Military commanders of the two countries have met once since then and more meetings are expected in the coming days. But New Delhi is readying itself for a long drawn out troop deployment on the heights in Ladakh.

It is in this context that the role of the Indian Air Force becomes critical, ferrying supplies and other essentials besides guarding against any aerial attacks.

In his remarks, Bhadauria said the recent induction of Rafale jets along with the C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft as well as Chinook and Apache helicopters have provided the IAF with substantial tactical and strategic capability.

"Airpower will be a crucial enabler in our victory in any future conflict. It is, therefore, imperative that IAF obtains and maintains a technological edge over our adversaries," he said at a conference on the Indian aerospace industry.

India inducted five of 36 French-made multi-role Rafale fighter jets into the IAF on 10 September and the aircraft have been carrying out sorties in eastern Ladakh.

China is a paper tiger and has not shown any resolve to go to war with any country. China's policy is to bully other nation with Propaganda. However, after conflict with India in Laddakh, the reality of China is exposed. India has devised a great Hybrid strategy to deal with china which works on putting a very strong defense, forming an International coalition against china, economic measures to block china is participating in Business and deprive china from a huge market of middle class and military coalition (At least in term of supplying weapons as and when required). This is a master stroke and it seems that China is clueless against this multipronged hybrid approach and doesn't know what to do. I am sure that this policy of India will be studied and praised by strategic thinkers when they will seat down and study.
Indians are by and large complacent to the lurking dangers.
Civil defence is quite weak. Reserves of both men and equipment are inadequate for long drawn wars.
India is lulled by false security.
India needs some sort of draft and creation of at least a 2-3 million reserve force.

That's your assessment. The govt is ready for a 2.5 front war. The army is ready for 2.

So far reporting from Indian express has been accurate (not sushant & man singh) and if they are saying India crossed LAC at 7 places then Indians are beyond it.

Sirijap is the only place we never recovered after 1962. Chinese retreated from many areas but they kept Sirijap. I guess this is the only place in Aksai Chin where the battle was fought. What a legend Col Thapa was... Chinese tortured him & they wanted him to give anti India statements but he never gave in. Whatta badass guy:hail:
