Indian infantry will start withdrawing from South Pangong only in the last phase. Right now only Indian and Chinese armour have withdrawn from South Pangong. So, I expect Chinese to release videos of Indian troop withdrawal in the next few days, when withdrawal from south pangong begins..

My father was in Tiananmen Square in 1989, but he was not a student. He was A carpenter in one carpentry factory. On the day of the clearance, he was in Tiananmen Square. The clearance was basically at night. There would not be such a daytime situation. He was closed in and out. My father took a bus all night and did not go out.

The real reason why I think the Chinese pulled back was because they were expecting further re-adjustments from the Indian side once the snow melted, facing that humiliation would be a death blow to CCP's reputation and hence they decided to take the smaller of the 2 humiliations that is to retreat after creating all that hue and cry in the beginning.

Yes. Because, as things are now officially being released, I am sure you shall be able to connect it with a tweet I had made over the heliborne insertion of troops which allowed us to dominate finger 4 and right up to finger 8. I know it was with lot of incredulity that the tweet was received with, but the constraints do not change.

I have 02 more contentions that I make, without proof (you can not spot everything on satellites, unlike what generally people would want you to believe):

1. We had briefly occupied Black Top. The troops were ordered to pull back.
2. We solidified our gains over the past few weeks (Dec on) by taking new positions which further made their defences along both sides of the lakes indefensible. We also hold a relative advantage more or less now in other zones too. This has persuaded them to an extent to think again.

There is no road from Finger 3 to 4. Just a broad unpaved track. Not vehicle plying though. It shall need more widening and working upon.

Yes. My tirade against the Home Minister had been on this very line since day 1 here. He was aware. But who will take him to task? Reminds me of "bade bade sheharon mein aisi choti choti ghatnain hoti reheti hain" or something to that effect by Mr. Shivraj Patil.

I still snicker when people here thought I was shooting shit when I said that PM was not aware and information was suppressed.

However, why did we allow the Chinese to occupy Gurung Hill & adjacent ridges? I am talking about the dots I pointed arrow

Btw, blue & green dots are our positions, orange & red are Chinese.

Those positions on Gurung Hill gave Chinese direct LoS of Chusul Village and pretty much our whole troop movement. If not crossing LAC was the motive, we could have camped at Gurung hilltop, but we occupied positions just a bit downhill south to Gurung hilltop.

Gurung Hill on it's own is not occupied by the PLA. They are slightly lower to the ridge, about 50 odd meters away from own positions.

Also, one can not physically stop another from coming and sitting along a ridge without fighting hand to hand for every inch. So, anywhere where our troops were not sitting, they occupied accordingly.

The tactical ascendancy, in all instances, was maintained by us even on these points.

Even if we did have Black Top under our hands who ordered the IA to come down from it, isn't it the on ground Commanders that are responsible for operation related decisions, if not the on ground commander(who is said to have been given a "free hand" in dealing with the situations on the ground) who is it that ordered the vacation of Black Top and what do you think the reason was for such a move.

Going through old sat imagery nothing much seems to have done in last 5 years.

If we had a road from 3 through finger 4 and 5 , will the chinese have taken control of finger 4 - 8 ??

Maj Dhan Singh Thapa post, the ITBP post you are saying, lies between F2 & 3, hugging F3. ITBP is written on F3 hill.

There is a motorable road till the northern side of F4. But there is no road from the northern side of F4 to the southern side of F4, i.e., from the F3-F4 area to F4+ area.
