ORDOS (China): Goalkeeper S Sreejesh stole the limelight with two crucial saves as India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 4-2 via penalty shootout in a nerve-wrecking final to clinch the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament on Sunday.

Great to see the team has won it without some key players. The team remain unbeaten in the tournament. But there are some scary pictures as well. We are not being able to beat Japan or Malaysia. How can we take on teams like Australia, Germany, the Netherland or Spain. Our new coach is suggesting a fusion of Indian and Australian style. Hope he will be successful. We just have one year for Olympic and before that we have be one among the three teams who will qualify last.

Asian Champion Indian hockey team rejects meagre prize money - The Times of India

During a felicitation ceremony at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium last evening, the players were offered the reward but they outrightly rejected it.

"We were offered Rs 25,000 each by HI secretary general Narinder Batra as reward for winning the Asian Champions Trophy but we all refused to take it because it a very small reward considering our achievement," senior player Gurbaz Singh said.
