But you need to take into the account the geographical factor.
Without India's co-operation almost all of your import and export becomes exponentially costly.
It is nothing wrong in accepting that BD is largely dependent on India for India is not going to use that as a leverage to rob BD unlike the sincere Chinese twats.

Read the below link to understand China's sincerity.

http://thewire.in/2016/04/06/business-spats-with-myanmar-can-be-resolved-china-27794/

No country does free service. It is all strategic, national and business interests all the way through.

So don't get bowled over by huge money. With huge money comes a huge nail in the arse.

Did you mean to say BD developed only because of Chinese help and no real hard work.

1.We believe China will never desire to annex BD or make us a satellite. On the other hand a strong BD is in strategic interest of China.
2. Suu Kyi is a Western / MNC plant. She is opposed to a friendly China policy by Burma.

only objected to point (2)~ Suu Kyi being a Western pet, she's not going to act against Chinese interest though. a mature politician would try her utmost to cut better deals multilaterally. no one likes to put all eggs in one basket.

now who is able to help her live up to commitments to voters? all deep-pocketed Asians~ Japanese, Koreans and Chinese while the West is quagmired in their own troubles.

Chinese win-win philosophy is going to benefit partners on the periphery.

Of course no one wants to annexe an Islamic nation. Never ! May be some clown might shout of it but annexing an islamic nation is not worth it.
Strong BD can be anyone's strategic interest. One party's strategic interest is just another's strategic annoyance.
I am sure you understand everything.

India, Bangladesh power ties with 21st-century nuclear deal

NEW DELHI: India has concluded a nuclear agreement with Bangladesh in a sign that the bilateral neighbourhood relationship is becoming special. The core of the new engagement is all 21st century — energy, connectivity, security.
"We are politically aligned, security sensitive and economic partners," said a top source in India.
The nuclear agreement is a three-document package that has been negotiated between the MEA and the Bangladesh department of science and technology over the past few months. But this is only a part of the bigger play the two countries are engaged in.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina inaugurated a 100MW power transmission line from Palatana to Bangladesh, India is preparing to upgrade it to 500MW. Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who visited Dhaka recently, has promised to send diesel to Bangladeshfrom West Bengal.
India wants to transport LPG and LNG to the northeastern states — through Bangladesh. New Delhi has offered Dhaka a stake in this, letting them share LPG and LNG according to their needs, even as they allow transit of energy to Tripura. In the next stage, India has told Bangladesh, they want to generate power in the northeast and have it pass through Bangladesh, offering them an "offtake", that is allowing them to take power for own use from the transmission line.
Four Indian companies — BHEL, Reliance, Shapoorji-Pallonji and Adani — have bid to build power plants in Bangladesh. The Indian nuclear deal will equip and train Bangladesh to import their first nuclear power plant from Russia. It's a very big deal for Bangladesh and almost unique for India. Basically, once all these projects kick in, Bangladesh could be well on its way to becoming a middle-income country in a decade.
The comfort factor for both countries is the fact that both land and maritime boundaries are now clearly demarcated. In this case, certainly, better fences have made better neighbours.
During foreign secretary S Jaishankar's visit to Dhaka this week, which coincided with Bangladesh executing Jamaat leader Motiur Rehman Nizami, India proactively stood behind Dhaka's decision, even as Turkey lashed out. The almost seamless implementation of the LBA has made it easier to plan roads and railways to Bangladesh.
The two countries want to revive the train lines that were operational between the two sides, until 1965, when Pakistan shut them down — Akhaura-Agartala, Khulna-Darshana, Parvatipur-Kawnia lines will be on top of the list. A bridge on the Feni river will come in the coming years.
Bangladesh has its eyes set on a water deal, particularly on Teesta and Feni. And India has promised to deliver. In the new evolving relationship, both sides are willing to give each other some space.

Bangladesh wants India as ‘stakeholder’ in Ganga barrage project
State Minister for Water Resources Nazrul Islam said two Chinese firms were keen to wholly finance the project and even Japan was willing to fund at least $2 billion.
BY: PTI | DHAKA |Published On:October 8, 2016 7:00 PM

Bangladesh is keen to have India as a “stakeholder” in the proposed $4 billion Ganga barrage project and a team from India’s water resources ministry will soon visit Dhaka to hold talks in this regard, a senior minister has said.
State Minister for Water Resources Nazrul Islam said two Chinese firms were keen to wholly finance the project and even Japan was willing to fund at least $2 billion.
“But because the Ganga flows into Bangladesh from India, we take a long term view of the project and our prime minister is keen to get India into it,” he told bdnews24 online.
He said a team from India’s water resources ministry will soon visit Dhaka to hold discussions on the barrage project.
“The issue was raised during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka last year. He showed much interest and Indian officials later asked for the project details which we have provided,” Islam said.
He said funding was not a problem for the project.
“Two Chinese companies have offered full finance while the Japanese have said they can put in half the project cost and we can manage the rest, but it makes long-term sense to have India involved because the Ganges flow into Bangladesh from India,” Islam said.
The Ganges barrage will be a 165-kilometre long reservoir running from Rajbarhi to Chapainawabganj districts, with a depth of 12.5 metres.
It will hold a phenomenal 2.9 billion cubic litres and cost Tk 314 billion (approximately USD 4 billion). The barrage will retain the water of the trans-boundary river Ganga, known as the Padma in Bangladesh, during the monsoon and feed small rivers during the lean season.
This will help Bangladesh flush the small rivers and reduce salinity, a major threat to public health and agriculture in the country’s southwest.
Islam sought to allay fears of flooding on the Indian side of the Ganges. “The project has provided for allocations for upgrading and raising embankments on the Indian side to avoid any flooding,” he said.

I am rather pessimistic about Indo-BD relations. We see it as one sided with the larger partner getting all she wants. This myopic attitude of policy planners may eventually result in creation of bad blood between the two.

In any relationship it's the larger partner that gets what he wants . That's just the way it works. But India has settled boundary disputes at favourable terms to Bangladesh and accepted ruling on maritime boundary. (Compare this with china)
Matter of fact is that Bangladesh is heavily dependent on India and will remain so for coming decades. Bad blood will be bad for India but too bad for Bangladesh . Both sides should be pragmatic in engagement. If Bangladesh playes china card it might loose goodwill in Delhi and further complicate things. After all no one likes to be blackmailed.

As if smaller partner didn't want any project or investment.

By and Large, Muslim nations which stay liberal progress. Ex. Indonesia, Egypt also[actually] and Turkey. India did help BD gain independence. But, The extreme islamic fringe again destroyed a secular leader like Mujibur Rehman. That cost BD development for a long time. Most BD people are sensible. But, you need to be careful about ISI. Their tentacles are inside your opposition.

I understand how you feel, But, reality is, Under current Govt. BD-IND relations are looking up. Keep quiet for sometimes. Leverage our IT Industry and become developed. You can grow faster. Why become inimical because, of religious reasons? How has religion helped BD?

Dont forget, the Pakistanis were quite racist in their attitude towards you. Why will that change now?

Shakib Al Hasan apologises after Islamist threats for attending Goddess Kali Puja in Kolkata

Islamic preachers in Bangladesh say people should not attend the ceremonies of other faiths.

"I was on the stage for barely two minutes. People are talking about this and thought I inaugurated it," Shakib told an online forum late Monday.

"I did not do this and being a conscious Muslim I would not do this. But, maybe, I should not have gone there. I am sorry for this and apologise," he said.

India Offers Missiles, Radars And Artillery Guns To Bangladesh
The Indian government has expressed keenness on engaging Bangladesh in exporting and coproducing heavy defence equipment, including missiles, radars and artillery guns, according to an online discussion held on Thursday.

‘We are keen to work with Bangladesh for platforms like Akash [missiles], radars, mortars, artillery guns, ammunitions, etc,’ Indian defence ministry’s secretary on defence production Raj Kumar said at the discussion.

The defence equipment produced by India is compatible with the need for modernising the Bangladesh defence forces under the Forces Goal 2030, he said.

Mentioning the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries during a visit of prime minister Sheikh Hasina to New Delhi in 2017 for a US$500 credit line for defence procurements, Raj Kumar said that the defence line of credit ‘is already operational.’

Defence cooperation and partnership between India and Bangladesh has made significant gains in the last few years, he said, adding that there were potentials for the two countries to engage in long-term strategic partnership in the areas of shipbuilding for both commercial and defence requirements.

The discussion was jointly organised by the High Commission of India in Bangladesh, Indian defence ministry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Bangladesh shipping minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that shipbuilding was a growing industry in the country, with a vast fleet of about 20,000 inland and coastal commercial vessels produced here in over four decades.

Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Doraiswami stressed the need for Bangladesh and India to work together to develop and leverage one another’s capacities in the areas ranging from science, shipbuilding to infrastructure.

‘The centrality of the Indo-Pacific idea and security along with growth for all the region underpins the notion of ensuring that the maritime domain remains free, open and accessible to all for trade and commerce,’ he said.

Several officials from Bangladesh and Indian sides joined in the discussion.
