India accused of 'spying' on Chinese military ware: Rediff.com news

A Chinese military expert has accused India of "violating" Beijing's [ Images ] diplomatic rights and "spying" on its military ware while inspecting the cargo plane of the United Arab Emirates [ Images ] air force which was detained in Kolkata [ Images ].

"The actions by Indian authorities violated diplomatic rights as the cargo on board belong to China," Dai Xu, a renowned military expert, said.

"Any inspection onboard, which may have violated China's property rights and constituted spying on its military secrets, should be approved by both the UAE and China," Dai was quoted as saying by the state-run Global Times.

It also quoted an unnamed military source as telling the paper, a sister publication of the ruling Communist Party's mouthpiece, The People's Daily, that the UAE airplane, a C-130 Hercules, was on a mission transporting Chinese arms from an arms expo in Abu Dhabi.

India released the China-bound cargo plane on September 10, four days after it was grounded in Kolkata for not declaring the consignment of arms and ammunition it was carrying.

The 10 crew members were also interrogated. India gave the clearance after it was told by UAE authorities that its pilot had committed a "technical error" over declaring the on-board arms and ammunition for which they expressed regret.

I wonder what kind of arms they had on board!

They cant blame for detaining the plane, the Chinese did it to the US reconnaissance plane, and they snooped around as much as they could. Its all fair.

There is the Dubai Air show, but dont know the schedule exactly, it might be in Nov. Maybe the chinese were flying in some equipment and taking back some. Can be, we cant rule it out.

Even if the so called exhibition happened no country wants it's sophisticated arms to be transported with thier hosts plane, atleast I never heard such things. How come frisking a plane in our own land is spying?

To me its a ploy to deflect attention from the arms that were found on the cargo plane, india should dismiss these stupid claims and demand an apology from the people who asked for permission to land on indian soil.india has evey right to search planes that come on its soil, and that may compromise its security.
regards spying, china would do the same if the shoe was on the other foot, they dont miss any opportunity to steal intellectual property rights of others.

Back in June 2009, Norinco’s Kunlung Company shipped an entire LD-2000 air-defense system to UAE via a rented Russian An-124 for evaluation (here) . After 22 days, the evaluation was considered a success, with a final live-fire demo in front of the PLA’s defense attaché and other high ranking UAE officers.

While the detained UAE C-130 may not contain the returning LD-2000, it must be noted that like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, the UAE has an active military exchange program with China, a fact missed by many pundits. In that light, it should not be a surprise to see military equipment in transit to China from UAE. Maybe next time someone will double check the paperwork and train the crew in simultaneous winking when embarking on such clandestine operations.

LD-2000
Like the land-based version of the naval CIWS Type-730, the LD-2000 combines a seven barreled 30mm Gatling gun with 6 TY-90 SAMs. The system is likely to have a similar overall capability to the US C-RAM but with extended range, thanks to the 6km reach of the TY-90s. However, rather than just anti-mortar defense the LD-2000 is more likely employed for point defense of key installations and facilities from cruise missiles, PGMs and fast jets at low altitude.
According to Norinco, LD2000 can engage cruise missiles with an RCS of 0.1 m2, up to a maximum speed of M2.0. The system is also claimed to have a multiple-target engagement capability and be able to operate in an electronic counter counter-measure environment.

i wonder what was on that plane that lead china to accused India of such a serious charges ???

BTW was't chines doing even worse thing by illegally reverse engineering others weapons sytems and then selling them at dumpying rate in international market.

India is well within its legal right (as a soverign state) to search any plane, ship or vehicle which is carrying arms not declear to it and which it suspect is illegal moving from its territory. India has soverign right over the land, air and sea under its control.

If according to China, those arms are belonging to Chinese weapon manufacturer themselves and were sent to UAE for Exhibition purpose, then why does UAE Transport plane was hired to transport it back to Mainland. As it was the responsibility of China to send its own Transport plane and get it back to mainland. If India had to exhibit any weapon system belonging to it then certainly, it will become India's responsibility to transport it back to India after the completion of Exhibition.
