View of Himalayas from Chopta-Tungnath, Garhwal, Uttarakhand

Chopta is an undiscovered and yet unexploited excursion point for the trekking enthusiasts. Situated at an altitude of about 2500 mtrs, Chopta gives a picturesque view of the Himalayas.
Tungnath is a mountain located in Chamoli, a district of Garhwal, in Uttarakhand, India. The Tungnath Temple, situated on Tungnath at an altitude of 3,680 meters, is the highest Shiva shrine among the Panch kedars.
According to Hindu mythology, lord Shiva and Parvati both have been associated with the Himalayas which is believed to be the abode of Gods. Shiva is believed to reside at Mount Kailash while Parvati (Shail Putri) is mythologically regarded as the daughter of hills.

No wonder these places are so romantic! God knows how many times they made love here! May be countless.....! I just love the spirit of both Shiva and Parvati. You know we have Tibetan name for Shiva; we call him Lord Wangchuk. It has been written in our Tibetan buddhist script.

Kudremukh Karanataka India

Kudremukh(Kannada: ಕುದುರೆಮುಖ) also spelled Kuduremukha is a mountain range in Chikkamagaluru district, in Karnataka, India. The name Kuduremukha (as it is known by the natives) literally means 'horse-face' (in the local language Kannada) and refers to a particular picturesque view of a side of the mountain that resembles the same.Owing to the dense forests, sighting wildlife can be challenging, though the area is rich in wildlife. Nonetheless the drive through the forest ranges can be enchanting and exhilarating. Three important rivers, the Tunga, the Bhadra and the Nethravathi are said to have their origin here. A shrine of goddess Bhagavathi and a Varaha image, 1.8 m within a cave are the main attractions.

Rumtek (Tibetan: རུམ་ཐེག་དགོན་པ་,; Wylie: Rum-theg Dgon-pa), also called the Dharmachakra Centre, is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in the Indian state of Sikkim near the capital Gangtok. Originally built by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje in 16th century, Rumtek served as the main seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Sikkim for some time. But when the 16th Karmapa arrived in Sikkim in 1959, after fleeing Tibet, the monastery was in ruins. Despite being offered other sites, the Karmapa decided to rebuild Rumtek. To him, the site possessed many auspicious qualities and was surrounded by the most favorable attributes. For example, flowing streams, mountains behind, a snow range in front, and a river below. With the generosity and help of the Sikkim royal family and the Indian government, it has been built by the 16th Karmapa as his main seat in exile.

After four years, construction of the monastery was completed. The sacred items and relics brought out from Tsurphu Monastery, the Karmapa's seat in Tibet, were installed. On Tibetan New Year's day (Losar) in 1966 the 16th Karmapa officially inaugurated the new seat called, "The Dharmachakra Centre, a place of erudition and spiritual accomplishment, the seat of the glorious Karmapa."

The monastery is currently the largest in Sikkim. It is home to the community of monks and where they perform the rituals and practices of the Karma Kagyu lineage. A Golden Stupa contains the relics of the 16th Karmapa. Opposite that building is a college, Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies.

Nothing grand, from my small phone, the good old Indian highways

dhabba's, chai, pakora, parantha, spicy food, capstan cigarettes.

Vehicles with so many people on them, it made you wonder how they were still running.

single lane roads with traffic going at 100km/hr both ways :)

Great pics guys! I'll try and contribute something here occasionally, and cover the areas that don't usually get much attention.
