Incredible India campaign gets UK award

London, Sep 16 (PTI) The Incredible India campaign, showcasing India as a destination of choice for global tourists, has won a rare UK award for the most creative media campaign using ethnic imagery.

The 'GG2 Campaign of the Year' award was presented to Jagdish Chander, Director, India tourist Office, UK and Ireland, by Cherie Blair, wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair last night.

???? The incredible India campaign launched in 2002 was aimed at drawing the discerning tourist to India.?Since then the eye-catching imagery has won awards and helped boost tourist arrivals to the country, the citation said.

???? "The worldwide campaign showcased India as a destination of choice for art aficionados, culture vultures, film buffs and thrill seekers and spa lovers," it said.

Please realize that media campaign =/= actual product. India has a lot of work to do before it becomes a genuinely top of the line center of tourism.

The media campaign no doubt is fantastic.

'Incredible India' campaign wins World Travel Award

London, Nov 10 (PTI) The 'Incredible India' campaign, an initiative by the Indian government to promote tourism, has won the World Travel Award 2009 for being the best campaign of the year.

The reigning Miss World, Ksenia Kukhinova of Russia, presented the award to India's Tourism Minister, Kumari Selja at a gala function held at the Grosvenor House here.

Selja, who is here to participate in the World Travel Market, also received the Asian Guild Award for promoting the 'Incredible India' campaign at a function held at the House of Lords last evening.

The Award and Fellowship of the Asian Guild was presented to her by Lord Peter Archer of Sandwell.

The Guild also bestowed the Fellowship on Jagdish Chander, Director, India Tourist Office here for his "hard work to carry out the conviction of Incredible India Campaign in the UK.

New Delhi, Nov 14(PTI) In yet another feather to its cap, the Incredible India campaign bagged the prestigious Grand Prix Award.

Tourism Minister Kumari Selja received the award for the Incredible India promotional film in Vienna yesterday.

"It is a great privilege for me to receive the Grand Prix Award for our new Incredible India promotional film. The film has been used extensively in our global marketing campaigns and has received worldwide recognition," Selja said.

Earlier in the week, Incredible India had got the World Tourism Award for the best destination marketing campaign in London.

"After winning a series of international awards at Berlin, Poland, Romania, France, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Croatia, the film has now been honoured with the prestigious Grand Prix Award," she said.
