Along with P-75 India, our offer for three additional Scorpene submarines is still on table: French Naval Group chairman

.

At a time when Indian Navy is looking to add more submarines into its fleet, French firm Naval Group has said that its offer to India for buying three additional Scorpene-class submarines was still on and would help India to utilise the investments made by it in the project for last 15 years.

Indian defence PSU Mazagon Dockyards Limited and the French Naval Group have been jointly building the Scorpene-class submarines at Mumbai after the contract was signed in 2005 between the two sides.

The Indian Navy is going to induct all the six Scorpene boats in the next three to four years and has already issued a new tender Project 75-India for buying six new submarines with foreign collaboration under the strategic partnership policy.

"The offer is still on the table. We still believe it is a very good solution to keep 15 years of Make in India intact," Herve Guillou, chairman and chief executive of Naval Group told ANI in an interview.

Guillou was in India last week for reviewing the firm's Indian operations and held meetings with senior Indian defence and naval leadership.

He said the Naval Group is, of course, going to participate in the tender for supplying the six boats for the P-75 India project with the latest technologies expected by Indian Navy.

On the issue of three additional submarines, as an extension of the ongoing Scorpene submarine project, the Naval Group chairman said the issue was not just about keeping the work going on at the MDL or the personnel there trained for the programme "but also to more than 43 other companies who will have nothing to do for submarine industry after supplying equipment for the sixth Socrpene class boat."

"Not using them is a huge waste of investment. All your investment will fade away. So, three additional submarines could be a quick and good opportunity for India to keep and to value the investment made in the last 15 years," he said.

On the ongoing Scorpene programme for the Indian Navy, the Naval Group chairman said the first boat of the class has already been inducted and the "feedback that we are getting from the French Navy also which operated with the INS Kalvari of the Indian Navy during exercise Varuna is that the military performances are good.

Asked about the delays in the induction of the second and third Scorpene class boats in the Navy named INS Khanderi and INS Karanj, the Naval Group chairman said the Khanderi was about to be commissioned in the Navy in the next few coming weeks.

On the issue of observations made by the Indian Navy during the trials of the INS Karanj, the Naval Group said they were aware of six main observations made by the Indian side which are in the process of being addressed and resolved.

He said any submarine being built world over and has more than a million parts and six observations during the trial should not be a major industrial obstacle.

During recent sea trials of the INS Karanj, the Indian Navy had made certain observations regarding the performance of different parts of the submarine and some of the corrections or rectifications suggested can be implemented only after the Monsoons get over.

Responding on more than Rs 50,000 crore Project-75 India for building six bigger and better submarines for the Navy, the Naval Group said it would be offering a solution for the force on the basis of requirements put across by the Indian side in its tender.

I have a doubt here,
Indian navy is not taking further scorpene submarines,is this not because after balakot THOSE BASTARDS PAKISTANIS really sniffed out our FAMED SCORPENE SUBMARINE? and because of embarrassment Indian navy is now saying to the ship builder that THEY NEED FURTHER TWEAKS in the upcoming classes.
This can be the case, and it's worrisome if it's true.

Ok, Frère.....
Then why the submarine got out?
And please do provide your source. Because I do consider those bastard pakistanis words can carry weight.
A submarine that got detected can be made to surface out that is heard, but why a submarine that detected got out(I know only snorkel was seen).

Of course, there’s always the possibility of Pak recycling footage. Not certain, but the video put out today has similarities to one Pak put out in November 2016. Do compare & check. Here’s the 2016

Indian Navy to induct second Scorpene-class submarine INS Khanderi by September end

The third Scorpene-class submarine INS Karanj is in the advanced stages of its trials and if it clears all trials successfully it will be able to join the Indian Naal fleet end of this year or early next year.

The $ 3 billion contract for building these Scorpene-class submarines in India was signed in 2006 between the French company Naval Group, formerly known as DCNS, and MDL under Indian Navy’s Project-75.
Second Scorpene-class submarine, INS Khanderi will get commissioned in the Indian Navy by Sepetember end. Sources have confirmed that on Sept 28, in the presence of defense minister Rajnath Singh the submarine which has completed all necessary acceptance trials successfully will be commissioned. It will be part of the Western Naval Command in Mumbai. Singh will also launch the first ship of the Shivalik Class which is follow on Project 17A at the Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL), Mumbai the same day.

After returning from Paris, the minister will head to Mumbai for the ceremony. The Naval chief Admiral Karambir Singh and other top naval officers will be present. In December 2017, the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first Scorpene-class submarine was commissioned.

The third Scorpene-class submarine INS Karanj is in the advanced stages of its trials and if it clears all trials successfully it will be able to join the Indian Naal fleet end of this year or early next year.

Earlier this year in May, the fourth submarine which is under construction at MDL and named `Vela’ had touched waters after completing its outfittings. And, the last two of the Scorpene-class – Vagir and Vagsheer submarines are under construction at the MDL.

The $ 3 billion contract for building these Scorpene-class submarines in India was signed in 2006 between the French company Naval Group, formerly known as DCNS, and MDL under Indian Navy’s Project-75.

Urgent need for submarines

Under the 30-year submarine building plan which was approved by the government in 1999, the Indian Navy needs at least 25 submarines. The strength has gone down from 21 to just 15 conventional submarines. Also, the Indian navy has one indigenous Arihant-class nuclear submarine and one Akula-class submarine which has been leased from Russia.

According to the 30-year plan there are six Scorpene submarines to be procured under the Project-75; additional six to be built under Project-75 India, and the remaining 12 to be built indigenously.

What is a Scorpene-class submarine?

The state-of-the-art submarine has superior stealth. It has the ability to launch a crippling attack on the enemy using precision-guided weapon.

It has the capability to be launched in anti-surface warfare, and anti-submarine warfare.

It can be used for intelligence gathering, mine laying, and area surveillance.

And to ensure interoperability with other components of a Naval Task Force.

It is a lethal platform and this class of submarine marks a generational shift in operations.

It is 66-meter long and is made up of a special kind of high-tensile steel.

This special steel ensures that the warship can withstand high yield stress. And this allows it to dive deeper.

The submarine has the capability to operate at a depth of 300 meters underwater and travel 1,020 km underwater.

It has the provision to carry 18 torpedoes and tube-launched anti-ship missiles underwater. And also from the surface.

So no real unsolved problem during trials.
A sub is a very complex system, made of some 100.000 components. It's classical to need some adjustments before reception.
The Fake News specialists can close the hole under their nose. As with rafale saga.

This is the plan I posted about. So no more Scorpion just new 75i ( probably German) .
And then using the expertise by building the 75 and 75i + SSN . Build a new indegenios design and 12 submarine of that design with more for export.

That was a separate report about Indian subs hunting for agosta. No relation to the report in pakistani media where they claimed that they had found an indian sub and forced it to surface.

I am asking about the second report.

Yeah my reaction too.

People dont quite know the state of HDW these days. Nor are their eyes and ears kept open, it would seem.

"France is India's new Russia"

IDK what people understand from this ^^ but Type 214 for P75I? SERIOUSLY?
Eh ! Why would navy need a new project if it wanted same submarine ( Scorpion ) with same technology.

And don't tell me we are going to buy baracuda copy for an SSK at 2-3 billion a piece.
