Thanks for the article but it's from 2017 & related to Poland seeking to buy the Scorpenes. Thought of bringing this to your notice given you may be well intentioned but don't come across as the sharpest tool in the shed or even the brightest bulb in the showroom.

Since then things haven't moved much & Naval Group , TKMS / HDW & Hanwha Ocean [formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering] and Hyundai Heavy Industries are still slugging it out for the order. This is for your information.

Irrelevant comparison boyo. We haven't opted for their AIP system nor does our Scorpene come equipped to discharge LACMs & AShCMs that's Land Attack Cruise Missiles & Anti Ship Cruise Missiles for you, like what Poland wanted. You were saying something about Tractors & Subs, boyo.

I think India better option is to order more Scorpene (6 more than the 6 + 3 of today), scrap the project of purchasing another SSK, and boost the SSN project, in time and in Qty (8 units instead of 6).

The Scorpenes fulfill a different requirement & Project -75 (I) a different requirement. The IN has mapped this out carefully & they're the most meticulous of all 3 armed forces in terms of planning & execution of those plans especially given their share of the defence budget is the smallest. There's not going to be any change in those plans.

NG has only itself to blame for considering themselves short changed. Had they not played dirty or even been more vigilant regarding those leaks , they'd be executing a further order of 6 nos Scorpenes as per the original IN plans for our submarine fleet .

They ought to consider themselves lucky they got 3 more . Thanks to the usual issues at MoD , IN didn't have a choice but to exercise the option for another 3 nos against their will.

MDL has already delivered five boats of this class, the sixth and last boat is currently undergoing sea trials and scheduled for delivery in March 2024. Refit of the first submarine, INS Kalvari, is targeted around mid 2025, the scope of refit and fitment of DRDO AIP system will depend upon it being proven on an underwater platform.
