There has been a dramatic drop in quality of discussion at DFI lately. We're taking steps to arrest that:
  1. Avoid SMS/Whatsapp lingo like "lozz porkies muzzies". It really brings down the level of discussion. I'm not implying censorship here. Make your point using properly formed sentences.
  2. We now have a a "reactions" feature. Use that frequently instead of making one liners like "lololol" or "me angry". 30 char limit has been removed. I hope members are mature and we don't have to impose such artificial limits
  3. Many of us get too emotional while replying to posts. Counter with facts even if it's someone with an alternative viewpoint.
  4. Repeat offenders to the above will get perma-banned
PS: I hope people understand the points above and don't make victimhood posts like "there's nothing wrong with me. ban seculars, chinese and pakis first pls"

Some prior art. Policy was not enforced because of lack of inactive mods. But this will change
-

Thread Titles
Please keep the thread titles concise, as much as practically possible. It is generally fine to use the title of a news article, however, many news articles use titles that would rather qualify as a short paragraph or a compound sentence.

Low Quality Opening Posts
Opening posts, unless a copy-paste of an article, are better written in good English. Grammatical errors, SMS language, etc., reduce the quality of the post, and may create a poor fore-taste about the thread itself. Ideally, all posts should be of high standard, however, the request is to try our best to keep at least the opening post at a high standard.

Un-original Content
It is also important to provide link(s), or give credit, if the content is copied from somewhere, so as not to be accused of plagiarism. This is required, not optional.

Something very relevant which @Virendra post long back
---

To all the budding 'Yo' members here who've been typing a bit loose.
Please control your language, fix the grammar and avoid using SMS breed of diatribes.
This is a defence forum to discuss serious matters of geo-politics, not the 'chaupati' for street level retorts.
You are expected to behave accordingly (without being told again and again like with kids).
Low quality posts will only lower the overall moderation thresholds.

Most importantly, cuss words must be discouraged actively and deliberate insult to anyone, be it even the enemy, must be stopped. That shall go a long way in improving the level of discourse and creating a conducive atmosphere for more members to actively participate.

Thanks

DFI has to comply with existing rules on explicit images and hateful content.

Rules are not some random "secular nehruvian congi" stuff chosen by "left liberal moderators" but specific rules on what we can serve by the webhost, search engines and ad networks. It's true for most websites. More true for popular ones. Rules were not imposed earlier because of lack of moderation.

We're not a free for all platform. We can't be. If you can't accept that, then this is perhaps not the right platform for you. cc @Aaj ka hero
