Reporter Wins Award for Exposing Forced Organ Harvesting in China
This reporter won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a series of articles he wrote on China's murky transplant system. Matthew Robertson is a China specialist for the English edition of the Epoch Times Newspaper. Being fluent in Mandarin, Robertson said, he was able to do more investigative research from Chinese websites. But even without a language barrier, the lack of reliable information made it difficult. [Matthew Robertson, Journalist, Epoch Times Newspaper]: "For the China ones, it's much more difficult to find out what's actually going on. Basically, the reporting you can do is, you scrutinize the documents you can find extensively, so scouring Chinese websites, Communist Party websites at different levels and you're looking for whatever evidence you can find." In 2006, the wife of a Chinese surgeon revealed that her husband had removed the corneas from about two thousand practitioners of the Falun Gong spiritual practice. The Chinese Communist Party has persecuted Falun Gong since 1999. That year was when China's organ transplants numbers drastically went up. This prompted international activists to investigate. They concluded that evidence they found supported claims that the Chinese regime has been killing Falun Gong practitioners, and other prisoners of conscience for their organs. Robertson says if these findings become widely known in China, it could threaten the legitimacy of the Communist Party. [Matthew Robertson, Journalist, Epoch Times Newspaper]: "And in the parts that have leaked out, the response from Chinese has been really strong. They're outraged, they're horrified, you know they can't believe that they are living in a country whose government does this kind of thing, kills prisoners of conscience for their organs." Despite the seriousness of the allegations, there has been minimal coverage of forced organ harvesting in Chinese and western media. And Robertson says he's not surprised. [Matthew Robertson, Journalist, Epoch Times Newspaper]: "If reporters in China were to cover this topic, I imagine that they would very quickly face repercussions. I imagine that no western media outlet would want to lose their whole bureau in China, which I suppose is entirely possible if they covered this heavily." Robertson will receive the Sigma Delta Chi award in the category of non-deadline reporting later this June.

Human Organ Harvesting Interview-China's Government Kills Falun Gong Spiritual Practitioners
Organ Harvesting interview with Canadian Former Secretary of State, David Kilgour and International Human Rights Attorney David Matas. Interview goes into detail regarding China's governments killing of the Falun Gong spiritual practitioners for their organs within a widespread system of concentrations camps, prisons and hospitals. Why isn't the Western Media reporting the 100,000 or more people that are believed to be killed for their organs in Communist China? Why isn't the Western Media reporting the biggest persecution in Human History? 100Million people are currently subject to rape, torture, and organ harvesting in China. Where is the Western media?

NSW Parliament Hears Expert on Forced Organ Harvesting in China
David Kilgour is one of the private investigators who have researched state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China. He co-authored this book, and is currently in Australia to raise awareness for the alleged crimes. He spoke at the New South Wales parliament on Tuesday. Lawmakers here are considering a bill that would strictly punish residents for getting trafficked organs abroad. [Jonathan O'Dea, Liberal Party MP, NSW]: "Any New South Wales resident traveling to any overseas to secure an organ transplant from somebody who is not willingly handing over that organ, its an issue that is on the table, both in New South Wales and in the Australian context." David Kilgour is the former Canadian Secretary of State to the Asia Pacific. His book lists overwhelming circumstantial evidence that the organs in China are coming from prisoners of conscience. Based on testimonies, the organs are obtained from living prisoners without their consent. [David Kilgour, Co-Author, Bloody Harvest]: "New South Wales is the largest state in Australia and it's very important that New South Wales pass a bill like the one that we heard tonight and if they did, it would be leadership for the rest of the country." The proposed bill builds on existing laws, and would impose harsher consequences for citizens who traffic organs. Obtaining a vital organ through illicit means would be equivalent to manslaughter under the proposed bill. [Professor Maria Fiatarone Singh, Sydney University]: "The transplantation society of Australia already has as their policy, as part of their policy, none of their transplant surgeons are allowed to do it. Chinese surgeons who come here must declare that they're not going to participate in those activities and that we're not allowed to, or transplant surgeons are not allowed to train Chinese surgeons who are going to go back and do that." David Kilgour says that over 65,000 practitioners of the Falun Gong spiritual practice in China have been killed for their organs. Falun Gong is one of many groups in China that are imprisoned illegally. [David Kilgour, Co-Author, Bloody Harvest]: "And if even one of them has been killed by an Australian citizen, then that's one too many."

"Numbers Dont Add Up" - Organ Harvesting in China Discussed at UPMC
US transplant surgeons say there needs to be more awareness about transplant abuse inside China. Medical rights group, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting, hosted a forum on Thursday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. They presented findings on state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting in China. [Dana Churchill, Delegate, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting] "Ethan Gutmann, a journalist and an award winning author estimates that more than 65,000 Falun Gong practitioners have been murdered for their organs by the Chinese Communist Party." Falun Gong is a Chinese spiritual practice. Since 1999, the communist regime has waged a persecution campaign against its practitioners. In 2006, claims surfaced that practitioners detained in prison and labor camps are being killed for their organs. Former Canadian lawmaker David Kilgour, and Canadian lawyer David Matas were the first to carry out an in-depth investigation into the claims. They found a big discrepancy between the sudden increase in transplants in China since 1999, and the lack of official explanation for where those organs came from. They concluded that Chinese state-run hospitals were in fact using Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience as a source of organs. [Christopher Hughes, MD, Director, Liver Transplant Surgery, UPMC] "Well it's like Mr. Matas said, the numbers don't add up, somewhere these organs are coming from, and they need to be accounted for, and I think the international community needs to understand where those organs are coming from." The Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute at UPMC is at the forefront of the organ transplant industry. It provides training for surgeons from around the world, including China. [Nicholas Solic, Former Employee, Allegheny County Health Department, PA] "There's gotta be common knowledge that a lot of surgeons that they are training, or the training they're providing both here and in China, has to be associated with this [organ harvesting]." Dr. Christopher Hughes says the UPMC will be discussing how to deal with visiting surgeons from China. [Henkie P. Tan, Transplant Doctor, Pittsburgh University] "Everybody, any transplant position, any transplant personnel is against this. This should never happen, we're surprised that it's happening, there's no doubt about it, it just shouldn't happen. It needs to stop." The Chinese regime openly admits to using executed prisoners as a source of organs, but has denied using prisoners of conscience. The regime, however, has so far not refuted the specific evidence raised in the reports by Kilgour and Matas

Live Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong Practitioners is Real
Spain has been leading the way in organ transplant technology in Europe and in the world. Especially over the last 20 years, the organ donation rate in Spain has been the highest among all countries. Spain has built up a successful organ donation mechanism known as the"Spanish model." Many countries are learning from Spanish experience. Recently, NTDTV reporters interviewed Nephrologist Dr. Rafi Matt Sands, the founder of the Spanish national transplantation organization. As a leading authority, Dr. Sands asserted that the Chinese Communist Party's live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners is real. Different from the non-governmental organ donation organizations in other countries, the organ donation organization in Spain is a governmental structure. It was initially built in 1989 and the donation rate has increased from 14 out of a million people to 35 out of a million people by 2011. Dr. Sands:"the so-called Spanish model of organ donation is just a management system, nothing else." Dr. Sands: "What I observed in my hospital is that the final decision of the family to donate or not donate the organ was very dependent upon the person who gave the interview, the nephrologist who worked that day who was on call in the hospital. So I decided that it was not so dependent on the family; it was more dependent on the medical doctor." Based upon this strategy, less than three years after the organ transplantation organization was founded, Spain became the country with the highest organ donation rate. Not only is Spain in a leading position with organ donation and transplantation, but it's also on the front line of cracking down on illegal organ deals. In 2010, Spain has set definite provisions in its legislation regarding illegal organ transplantation. If Spanish citizens know that the source of organs is illegal, they are prohibited from receiving the transplant. Even the promotion of illegal organ transplantation is against the criminal law. Dr. Sands: "I believe one of them is China. A hospital patient paid a great amount of money to receive a liver, the origin of which we are not sure of but, practically, the most likely possibility is the liver is from an executed prisoner, and so far as we understand, for China this is a legal action, but for us it is not acceptable. And that is the reason why we established the new law which complimented what we had before." Regarding the allegation of the CCP's harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners' organs for profit, Dr. Sands, as an organ transplantation expert, asserted that it's real. Dr. Sands:"All these things about Falun Gong seem to have been perfectly proven. And there are many international societies, like the Transplantation Society and others which have found proof about these." Dr. Sands:"Part of the Chinese government has recognized that this is true. No discussion about it. And that is one of the reasons that all these things should be avoided in the future. 100%." A Spanish citizen who went to China for an organ transplantation in 2008 instigated other people to go to China for organ transplantation in the media was prosecuted and is subject to being brought to justice. Dr. Sands proudly said that Spain has set up a good example in prohibiting illegal organ deals. He hopes that more and more countries can follow suit. He also said that we should have zero tolerance for notorious crimes like live organ harvesting.

Falun Dafa and lawmakers condemn China for religious persecution
Human Rights Day is observed each year on Dec. 10. One week ahead, lawmakers and activists held a forum in Taipei, advocating for the human rights of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. Forum speakers denounced China for its brutal crackdown on the spiritual group, which has gone on for at least two decades. The panel said Falun Gong practitioners were being rounded up and imprisoned, with some later murdered and their organs harvested for transplant. NTU honorary professor Ming Chu-cheng says Falun Dafa practitioners in China are subject to brutal treatment. Ming Chu-cheng NTU honorary professor In this photo of a corpse, you can see an incision from here to here. But the bottom half is covered up, so we don''t know how far down the cut goes. Like this, they can take out the lungs, the heart, the liver, and kidneys. But you can''t tell if they took out the kidneys. You say this can save a life? This is taking a life. Chou Ming-hui Taiwan Association for International Care of Organ Transplants I will never forget those phone calls. The nurses and the doctors sounded so friendly and passionate, but they were selling organs. One by one, speakers shared horrifying accounts. For decades, China has been on a crusade against Falun Dafa. Practitioners who are caught face severe punishment. The speakers said many are tortured to death, while others are killed for their organs. Ahead of the 70th Human Rights Day on Dec. 10, the Taiwan Association of Falun Dafa has organized a forum with academics, doctors and lawmakers calling for an end to the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. A petition on the issue has already gathered signatures from almost 700 lawmakers in 32 countries. In Taiwan, nearly 40 legislators have backed the petition. Hsu Chih-chieh DPP lawmaker The ultimate goal is of course that China becomes a democratic nation, even if we don''t know when that day will come. If Xi doesn''t fall, China won''t get better. Chiu Hsien-chih New Power Party lawmaker Calling for basic human dignity can get you persecuted or tortured. I believe that''s completely unacceptable. Lawmakers from several parties condemned China''s human rights violations. They called out Beijing for persecuting Falun Dafa, demanding the release of all imprisoned practitioners.

Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners
Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners Mounting evidence tells a terrible tale of murder and mutilation in China. Reports from witnesses and Chinese physicians reveal that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been killed for their organs, which are sold and transplanted at enormous profit in the transplant trade. The perpetrators are officials of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), acting in collaboration with surgeons, prison authorities, and military officials. Victims are held in concentration camps prior to having their organs harvested, after which the bodies are immediately cremated. The story, almost too dreadful to believe, was first revealed in March 2006, when a woman claimed that as many as 4,000 Falun Gong had been killed for their organs at the hospital in which she had worked. She also said that her husband, a surgeon at the same hospital outside the northeastern city of Shenyang, had disclosed to her that he had removed cornea from the living bodies of 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners. One week later, a Chinese military doctor not only corroborated the woman's account but claimed that such atrocities were taking place in 36 different concentration camps throughout the country. The largest, he said, held 120,000 persons. He said he had also witnessed Falun Gong practitioners being massively transported across the country in cattle trains, at night and under the cover of tight security. Falun Gong supporters and human rights activists overseas immediately began investigating the allegations. They placed calls to Chinese hospitals pretending to be shopping for a kidney or a liver. To their horror, one doctor after another openly confirmed: We've got Falun Gong in stock; just come in and we can get you the organ within a week. Shocked by these reports, two prominent Canadian human rights lawyers launched their own investigation. In July 2006, former Secretary of State for Asia Pacific David Kilgour and Human Rights lawyer David Matas published their 140-page report, which drew "the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true." Their research also concluded that the large number of organs transplanted in China since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999 could not possibly have been provided by voluntary donors or executed prisoners. See http://organharvestinvestigation.net CCP officials are reportedly hastening to destroy all evidence. They have provided monitored tours and removed websites that advertised organs for sale (though not in time, as investigators had already managed to save images of these web pages). One Chinese website had boasted that it could provide matching organs in 1-4 weeks, which medical experts say is impossible unless the Chinese hospitals have access to a huge stock of living organ "donors." Shortly after reports of organ harvesting emerged, Party leaders announced new legislation banning use of organs without consent. Over a year later, this law does not appear to have been implemented at all, supporting those who claimed all along that the legislation was nothing more than a public relations stunt. Along with Kilgour and Matas, the Committee to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) http://www.cipfg.org/ has taken the lead in uncovering and exposing the organ atrocities.

There is a daily Falun Gong protest outside the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. This one highlights the practice of the Chinese government's live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Smart having this outside Air and Space as it gets the most traffic of all the D.C. museums.

Hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been detained--but where are they? The number of organ transplants surgeries in China mysteriously began to rise in 1999--but where do all the organs come from?

49 Virginia Lawmakers Call for End to Torture, Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong in China
49 state legislators from Virginia, The US, recently sent a joint letter to Secretary of State Pompeo stating: “This July marks 21 years since the Chinese communist party launched an intensive nationwide persecution to eradicate the spiritual practice of Falun Gong.” The practice following truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, Falun Gong had over 100 million practitioners in China by 1999. But on July 20th 1999, the CCP launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. “We cannot even imagine having to endure this torture. And fortunately, from the safety of our own nation, we do not have to. But our position affords us with an even greater responsibility to act. Today, the undersigned members of the Virginia general assembly write to request forceful, and sustained action by the United States to protect religious liberty and to bring an end to this inhumane practice.” Global attention ignited in 2019 after investigations from the China Tribunal, an independent tribunal located in London, confirmed that the CCP has been conducting forced and live Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. Pompeo released a press statement a month ago on July 20th, calling on the PRC government to immediately end its mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners and address the whereabouts of missing practitioners. “Twenty-one years of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is far too long, and it must end.”

Beijing Lawyer Reveals Organ Harvesting of Executed Prisoner
On December 6, a Beijing lawyer revealed something stunning on the Chinese Internet. Han Bing, who goes by the Weibo handle "Hanzhou Lawyer", says a Chinese hospital turned into the execution ground for a prisoner on death row. The prisoner was reportedly rushed to a hospital that morning, where he was forced to sign an organ donation form. His family was not contacted about the "execution". He was killed in the hospital where the "quality" of his organs would be ensured. Han wrote in his Twitter-like Weibo account, quote "these conscienceless judges and doctors turned the hospital into an execution ground and a market for organ trade!" Han later spoke with NTD. [Han Bing, Lawyer of Beijing Hanzhuo Law Firm]: "It is written in the criminal justice policy of the supreme court that executed prisoners must meet their family before the execution. However, the court didn't do that in this case. We will have some actions in the next step. And then, if we make progress, we will make it public." Han's post received a lot of attention. Within one day, it was shared over 18,000 times. Over 6,500 people commented on it. But by December 7th, the post was removed from his account. In recent months, the Chinese regime has faced increasing international pressure over transplant abuse in the country. Chinese authorities say they rely largely on executed prisoners as a source of organs for the 10,000 transplant that happen each year. Han's revelation would confirm widespread suspicion that the prisoners, unlike what authorities say, are not willing donor. The regime also faces allegations that it's not ordinary prisoners being used. Rather, prisoners of conscience, mainly members of the Falun Gong spiritual practice, are being actively killed for their organs. Others targeted include persecuted minorities such as Uighur Muslims and House Christians.
