This narrative was propagated by a section of Indian media only. It is only natural to expect that the gloomberg chaps would catch up on it. Still remember coupta bragging about their 'low' infant mortality rates and 'higher' life expectancy and subtly mocking India's own policies when a simple Google search would reveal to him that bangladesh had less than half the number of doctors per 10k people when compared to India. Their domestic media actually routinely question these 'reported' vital statistical figures; you will find articles written as recent as in Jan this year doubting the credibility of the bangaldesh bureau of statistics. Although such articles never gain traction and until recently (before they went to the IMF) my news feed would get bombarded with media articles (all Indian) championing their so-called economic growth. Some would go one step ahead and draw 'careful' lessons as to how the GoI can take lessons from the upcoming 'Miracle' economy. The hype was propagated by Indian media and Indian media only; not even their domestic media.
