The main advantage is the internal capacity! IAF is used to transport trucks, bulldozers, JCBs... internally in them, to support road construction, or during disaster relief missions. That capability is gone, since the Ch 47 can mainly carry larger loads only externally.

By understanding what IAF uses heavy lift helicopters for, which is not the same as for US forces. Btw , that Boeing brochure shows a Ch53, not a Mi 26. Whike the truck can park at the ramp of the Ch 47, it can drive into the cargo hold of the Mi 26!
Air lifting heavy trucks is now possible (even in a better way) by the induction of C17 planes.
So, there's no loss of any capability within IAF

Since when the C17 can land vertically in mountain and hill areas?

This happened recently. Chinook saving an idiot mountaineer (who went up Mt.Hood to commit suicide but then changed his mind & called in for rescue)

Mini AWACS means, that you are able to share your radar data with other friendly aircrafts. So if you have 1 Longbow Apache, that is guiding 5 other helicopters, that don't have a radar, you have exactly that mission.
Since the range of longbow radar is less than 15km and it has very low peak power, even if the data was shareable, it will be of little use. It is unlikely that the radar is able to capture all the data around due to its low power nor will it be able to help buddies outside the close radius. Theoretically, the data sharing is a good idea but it is not always practical in all scenarios and involves some confusion as to when the buddy helicopter must connect or disconnect when the two move away or nearby.

It is better that a MALE UAV is flying above and guiding dozens of helicopters with its SAR radar that has significant guidance range of 35km radius and can look clearly from the top

C17s can land in a very short dirt roads (non-asphalted but firm).
It also employs techniques where the it swoops down at slow speeds on dirt tracks (without actually landing) and the trucks roll off the back side.
C17 is kick ass versatile. It'll work for all 'practical' applications, unless you want to land a truck on top of the spire of a mountain! Chinooks can carry small trucks anyways!

Check the pic carefully it even says mi 26 on 4th photo, and the sales pitch was spefically for IAF to compare mi26 vs chinook benefits, we don’t use Ch 53, so the silly pic representation dosen’t matter.

IAF was using MI26 for disaster relief because of its limited scope, so it was purely a utility helicopters. With chinook coming in more roles can be assigned to it unlike MI 26.

Guys in IAF who does procurement are not fools.

....................... .....
Overly jingoistic and idiotic comment (teenager vs Mike Tyson)!
T-129 and AH-64E both come with the EXACT SAME WEAPONS PACKAGE (Hellfire & Stinger) even though the helo's design itself is different & belongs to different countries (US vs Italy)
Apaches are bigger and more powerful & longbow radar (which some of Indian helos will have) gives better surveillance/detection, but T-129 will be almost equally lethal!

Big question is how Pakistan is able to bank roll this purchase! Pretty sure China will not bank roll Paki chela to buy western equipment! I am also presuming that Pakis going the T-129 route means their intent to purchase US Vipers is pretty much dead (even though US will still allow them to purchase it, Pakis might feel too insulted in going that route!)

i heard AH-64E is so agile that is can easly avoid the stinger shot.....preety handy on a tank battle field where both sides field a attack helicopter to target opponents ground forces.....

I don't think Apache's survival is due to its agility. It might be more due to the advanced DIRCM fitted on the helo (that can fool the heat seeking seeker).
That said, the fight is rarely between opposing helos - it's mostly the ground launched missiles/artillery vs the helos.
Remember that Apache & T129's air-to-air missile is Stinger - with a very small range (8-10 kms) !!
But the (Indian) strike corps will have longer range missiles (like QRSAM or Spyder) to take down Paki helos at 30km range!!

Mi26 is too big to be used for small operations. It is a fuel guzzler and consumes tons of fuel per mission

Stop using this argument everytime. You know or you don't. Don't assume anything

Helicopter dogfights don't happen. Moreover, stinger is supersonic and helicopter can't dodge it.

that what menufecteres of this helicopter claim and demostrate to their buyers...
Apache has DIRCM but not speed to maneuver away from stinger. DIRCM blocks the infrared seeker of stinger. But with a more complex seeker, the stingers can strike.

this platform is around for last 30 year....dircm is another step towards improving survivability which is introduce only resently.....

Apaches have had DIRCMs for 30 years. Recent upgrades is to a newer version of DIRCM.

Surviving a heat seeking missile by 'agility' is like Bahubali deflecting arrows with his sword - even if the machine can, the pilot detecting and taking such an evasive maneuver AT THE LAST MOMENT is just impractical (remember that turning away few milliseconds early will only cause the missile to change course and still home in!)

The MMR radar is not that high end as to be a mini-AEWACS. It has just 10-15km range and is only suited for ground support role, not more than that. Similar radar will be coming for LCH too. But thes are only helicopter radars and not even as good as the SAR in Tapas-BH-201
if they are able to connect with eachother even with 15km range to relay data it would work like AWACS.

If a Heli is 15km ahead of you and relaying data to you and you are further transmitting it to a 3rd heli 15 km behind then it's an awacs. So total range would be 30kms

Apaches have had DIRCMs for 30 years.
acha ji . ..

why don't russian have it in their Mi helis...they would have not lost 400 of them in afganistan against the stingers

Why doesn't Russia have stealth fighters as yet?? Everything doesn't have to happen concurrently.
(Also, Soviet war in Afghanistan started more than 30 years ago.)
