Can someone explain to be what a Hindu would support in the debate about whether reservation is fair?
I think that caste and classism can be an important method in balancing out the capitalist economic policies that often mean money is more important than morals. The South Indian caste system was always more fluid, so I think that it's just something related to morality and status, rather than a method of forcing people to live within their families' backgrounds.
I therefore support a policy that helps people in poor socioeconomic conditions over ones that support people based on caste, and I think that the noble/high-ranking jobs should receive special reservations instead, or even something akin to the House of Lords.
