In an India Today expose, top Kashmiri separatists have been filmed admitting they received funds from Pakistan. The channel has evidence that Pakistani state and non-state actors - including 26/11 attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed - are choreographing anarchy in Kashmir through their agents.

The probe includes Hurriyat's Provincial President (Geelani Faction) Naeem Khan, Tehreek-E-Hurriyat's leader Gazi Javed Baba, and JKLF chairman Farooq Ahmed Dar (Bitta Karate).

The operation also reveals Hurriyat's role in torching schools, and shows that the separatists, backed by their masters across the border, are geared up to unleash a fresh wave of unrest anytime.

Reacting to the revelations, Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (MoS) at the Prime Minister's Office, said action will be taken soon.

24 hrs after the expose? as if the govt(s) were oblivious of this fact till this expose!

OTOH, as we all know, several stone-pelting youth who were either apprehended or of their own volition have admitted/accused hurriyat of buying them with money to throw stones, molotovs & what not. what must be the source of this money, everyone understands (the pipe of which when dried during & after demonit, led to a spate of bank-robberies in the valley).

Does a government need a news channel to uncover such a thing? All this time , all these years what was the government , intelligence agencies doing that to in a state like Kashmir and Enterprise like hurriyat.
The intelligence agencies should know even if a separateist farts and funding is the heart of any Enterprise. I don't believe this was going on with out the agencies or the governments knowledge.

Govt has already taken the step with this sting. News channels on their own doesn't come up with such sting operations. There is always political backing with any political sting ops. Its not like taking out a sting in red light area.

One can't simply go on and act against these people on their own. Whether we like it or not, but they are heroes for people in the valley. If you want to kill them, first you have to kill the ideology. Maximum of Kashmiris are with them because of the so called Kashmiriyat. Kill their hope on these people and you do win a hand. Taking any action against these Hurriyat leaders would only strengthen their image among the public. First you have to destroy this image.

This sting is just doing that. Today NIA has already been set after these people and next we could see a trail of money, which has already been unearthed, in news within coming days. This would effectively break the mirage of free Kashmir, which these people have so well projected for public in all these years. Simply shooting them or hanging them would have only turned them into martyrs and their ideology would have been further strengthened. So kill their ideology first, then finish them off softly but smoothly.

Hurriyat leader Naeem Khan has been suspended from Hurriyat after an India Today expose showed him admitting on camera that he had received funding from Pakistan to stoke unrest in Kashmir Valley.

Nothing will change. All this government is interested is in management of public consumption to win elections.

Problem is, this should have done in early 90s itself. We did let this situation grow into what it is today ourself. As of today, doing anything like this would blow the whole thing out of proportion. Its not like govt didn't knew about this earlier. But as I said earlier, to do anything like this you have to first cutoff their public backing. First you have to kill the sympathy and support which they have garnered since long from the Kashmiri people. Once that's been done, you could quietly erase them and there would be no public outcry.
