A derivative of HTEF 25 is in making with higher thrust may be in range of 35 to 40 KN. when this is made, we shall be able to power Jaguar and twin engine tejas with that and that will give both the planes a big boost in T/W rati. We shall be able to make a Twin engine tejas acceptable to Navy.
As confirmed by me Safran and France is helping us with jet engine technology, this is not just applicable to Kaveri only, even this engine is being improved and once it's improved it will pump out 36-38kn dry and 55-57 kn with after burner.:biggrin2::biggrin2::bounce:

HAL's HTFE-25 aero engine could also be used to re engine 63 upgraded darin-3 Jaguars. HTFE-25 could be upgraded to 40kn dry and 64kn wet engine with after burners and would also be used in AURA ucav. Advantages of HTFE-25 with 40kndry/64knwet as compared to Honeywell engine is it weighs 175 kgs less, so weight saving of 350 kgs for Jaguars. Also for AURA UCAV which was to use degraded Kaveri this engine bring in weight reduction of 350-400 kgs.

Do we know the dimensions for the engine yet?

If we get 40kn dry thrust engine then we can try double engine lca , what do you think!?
We can use this in Jaguar and in twin engine LCA as required by navy. We can use this in HAWK sort of aircraft also.

According to wiki Avanger C drone uses a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545B engine with 17.75 kn thrust.

Engine dimension are
Length 68.6 inches = 1740 mm approx
Diameter 27.3 inches = 6930 mm approx

and we have HTFE-25 with same length and smaller diameter with 40% more thrust. I believe our own Avenger C type program is already in work.
Also BAE Transis and Dassult nEUROn both uses Rolls-Royce/Turboméca Adour with 29 kn thrust which is much bigger and heavy engine. So a scalled up model of this engine will even sufficent for AURA/Ghatak.

This can replace engines for Hawk and Jaguar. A turboprop derived from it can be used in Saras and Dornier Dos of IAF. Also both the turbofan and derived turboprop can potentially power our Regional Transport Aircraft in four engine configuration.

Sry..2 engines will suffice for RTA - also the engine can be improved to give 35kn...Embraeder RJ uses 33-37Kn class engine

25 kn? Isnt this engine a bit underpowered? Can somebody explain its utility and purpose?
Seems to be made to be made in the same class as Turbomecca Adour. engine....can potentially replace BAE hawk engines..being a trainer IAF would be more willing to accept it..also the thrust can be increased to 35 to 40 KN

From the ppt by @Certified Gypsy,

Why build 25kN engine when HAL license mfg same thrust class engines (adour-871 et al). Why not make Al-55 replacement?

A: Initially 20kN was proposed. Since Al-55 is ~17kN, a 20kN would have been good for IJT MK2. But the higher authorities went with 25kN. Wrt adour871 advantage in technology (smaller size, PR 11 vs 20, ~600mm vs ~450mm Turbine dia – huge turbine operating at lower rpm for Adour) , weight and size. So This engine while replacing Adour would give better performance. This engine can be used for Jagaur (which has 28kN engine) as well. Just need to change mounting points (and perhaps LP module?). Its very easy to adjust the design to various thrust levels by changing materials etc. Analysis already done. With similar core 35-40kN is achievable easily. SFC for this engine 0.72, better than older engines.

As per this picture that was displayed in Aero India 2017, HAL's new indigenous helicopter engine HTSE 1200 employs single crystal blade technology. If they are using this tech in HTSE, what stops them to use the same in HTFE 25 engine that they have developed indigenously?

Why is NAL not considering to use the HAL HTFE 25 for integration with SARAS instead of P&W engine.....
