Hello my indian friends, I'm new here. I got to know this forum via my friend.
I browsed some topics of this catagory, and sadly found many obviously wrong comments on China.
China is really not a country you can get to know well only by the Internet. You'll find those Indians who have been to China would have totally different impressions on China in contrast with those who haven't.
Of course most of we Chinese have totally wrong impressions on India such as "the country of Buddism" or "Indians are all good at Yoga".
I just want to say we'll know each other well only by mutual understanding, rather than irrational guessing or gossips.

OK, so much for greeting. Next here're two little questions confusing me, and I'd be glad if you'd tell me why.

First, I see most of Indians honor your new leader Modi so crazily that this mania has nearly grown to the degree of NK's "Mania for KIMs" (sorry for using this to describe but I really can't find another instance). It's true that after his coming to power India has made progresses, but many of those are based on his predecessor, Singh. I see Indians are too eager for changing, but I think it's not very proper to attribute all success to Modi. You know, it was Chinese and USSR Army helped NK to beat US&SK, but afterwards all were attributed to Kim-I. This is not a good phenomenon, because the more you wish, the more disappointed you'd be. Time is the only fair judge.

Second, why are you so convinced of foreign weapons? For example, Russia's been proved to be a cunning country for long and it's just tricking and tricking India, taking away your DOLLARS without giving you useful technology. A bare AC, from 800 million to nearly 3 billion $, and if other fares are taken into consideration the toll is reaching 5 billion $. Just 126 warplanes, France charged you 15 billion. India's annual budget for defense are only 36 billion, and 40% of it are spent on these planes. How to feed your soldiers well? How to feed your weapon-making industry well? Your domestic millitary industry will STARVE if this situation goes on. If you can make warplanes yourself, it'd be less than 5 billions, meanwhile contribute much to your domestic industry and economy.
Keep buying without creating, this is so bad. You can say we COPYING, but copying is truly the first step of creating in case that you're not capable to produce something. We've had a hard period copying, because nearly all powers banned technology support for us, but we finally made it. Now China can produce most of weapons in need, and this means, we are able to cut the cost, have stable domestic weapon supply, seize the technology, make more working oppotunities. We have more than 100 billions budget for defense per year, and we can ensure most of this are going to Chinese accounts rather than foreign accounts. Our scientists and engineerers are paid well, and then they can make more powerful weapons.
India is enjoying a good geopolitical circumstance. US,EU,RUSSIA,JAPAN, all powers are trying to pull India to their own side. India is giving out money, but meanwhile not trying to absorb advanced technology, or more directly, COPYING. If it's going on like this, I fear every year India will have to pay other powers a great amount of money.

Welcome to the DFI !!

Hope you will have a good time here ..

1) Regarding Modi India is a democracy and people vote based on the merits of the leader. If people are supporting Modi then he is doing it right. Comparison with NK is not correct, that is dictatorship and the emotions of NK people for their leader in the media and internet is not exactly same or real.

2) Regarding weapons procurement, India needs absorb new technologies out there and have to establish good defense R & D and industry. For that India is going for JV's along with defense purchases.

Hi, welcome to DFI. I agree with you on the Modi topic .... but your comparison was wrong, it should have been Hitler and his fascists Nazi party who took the democratic way out =)) .

Anyway Welcome,I expected how common Chinese should u r exact Copy of it
thx 4 ur reply
I think I have to clarify some issues here.
National defense is not so simple a problem. To debate copying or not is superficial, for if you don't have the technology, you'll be bullied; have you forgotten how India and China are bullied before 1940s? And if you insist in talking about copying, then in your way it was other countries copied our invention, gunpowder. Another example, I like Sushi, but Sushi is not so cheap in supermarket, so I copied the technology through watching how the Sushi maker making Sushi, and now I can enjoy my home-made Sushi only with some cheap ingredients. Hereby I intendedly avoided using the word "learning" because I want to tell you, if you're still holding such superficial thoughts, then you'll always have to buy Sushi rather than do it yourself.
We admit western countries have much more advanced millitary technology, so we should just learn from them, but they don't want to teach us the technology, without which we'll be bullied. If you were the defense minister, what would you do? Keep buying in high prices, or make the decision to produce by yourself? As I stated before, India is enjoying a good international circumstance, so you have much better chances to learn from them. But the pity is India is yet not able to produce many kinds of guns. Gun is the basic weapon, if a country even can't produce such basic weapons, then how can this country grow to be a giant?
China suffered a long painful period to build domestic war industry, after China broke up with USSR, it was hard to get technology support, but we still made it to develop arms producing. India want to avoid our way of developing war industry and lay the hope to foreign support, but up to now foreign powers only see India as a big ATM.
One day if India has confrontation with one of the powers, then what would it be?

That's totally wrong. You'll never know China if you don't come here. A nearly 10-millions-square-kilometer, 1.3-billion-population country is not just so simple that can be drawn with only some pictures or rumors. Even natives like me daren't say "I know China well".

Sorry for making such comparision, but I think it would be more improper if I use the example of Mao, for I remember Indians hate Maoists.
And what's JV?

One cannot know a large country because the people of different areas are different in all ways.

As far as India is concerned, we are off the starting block and hopefully we will become self sufficient.

Why am I not surprised than an AAPTard is behaving anti-national, as usual? Why is this disease so prevalent among AAPTards? @Singh - this is what I call an AAPTard, as opposed to just an AAP supporter.

@Prometheus usually makes good posts, so I don't know why you are calling him an AAPtard ?

When the OP compared Modi to Cult Communist leaders; he compared him to Hitler, who was incidentally democractically elected. He said this in a tongue in cheek manner.

Now, as far as I am concerned : AAP supporter doesn't have to mean a BJP/Modi hater nor vice versa.

@Prometheus has a seething and vile hatred for Modi, and he is a textbook AAPTard, please look at his earlier posts. His post was not tongue-in-cheek in the least. Let us wait for @Prometheus to respond though.

Unfortunately, it has descended to this: AAP supporter means BJP/Modi hater. On Twitter and internet in general, I wonder what is wrong with the brains of these people. When Indians lambast BBC/Economist etc. for biased and snarky anti-India reporting, AAPTards come there and start making snide comments about "hitler Modi", "divisive RSS", "poisoning society", etc. When Lalu made a sort-of comeback before general elections, AAPTards were giggling in glee and mocking the BJP. So much for an "anti-corruption" party!! When communists like Kavita Krishnan make vile leftist comments advocating Golden socialism, AAPTards retweet them and abuse people who oppose commies.

This is the state of the mentality of AAPTards on the internet. It is a sad reality. Considering Kejriwal's promises of involving everyone in decision making and devolution of powers, one shudders to think of what will happen if this band of monkeys is given any kind of power/authority.

I was having a debate with @Daredevil @Yusuf a while back. Twitter and FB are dens of homophily imo. There is no possibility of reason or logic or argument. You are abusing people who disagree with you, retweeting stuff that agrees with you. Even in a medium like Quora there is no debate.

DFI is one of the few areas where people of various political persuasions are able to articulate their arguments and have a debate. I guess if not anything else, it can atleast help you clear out your own thought process.

PS: Homophily : In the 1950s, sociologists coined the term "homophily" — love of the same — to explain our inexorable tendency to link up with one another in ways that confirm rather than test our core beliefs. Those who liked Ike, in other words, liked each other. The term didn't catch on, but the concept is now enjoying a renaissance, in part because it has been repeatedly invoked to explain the American electorate's apparent polarization into equally self-regarding camps.

Well like I said Modi FASCISTS!..... I don't feel anything if you call Kejriwal or Aap anything, but Modi supporters BELIEVE that their view is the ONLY view, and resort to calling anyone else retards. Your reaction just enunciates my claim of calling you guys Fascist!

Bro, wait for 3-4 months or so, we will live in a post-AAPtardism era after Delhi elections. Just look at how many people have exited AAP who have seen it from near. AAPtardism is not leaving those that don't see what AAP really stands for. :cool2:

You yourself have acknowledged that there has been corruption and cronyism under Modi.
You can get this verified from twitter on how wonderful BJP MCD is.

Now, the retards in the Delhi society aren't able to put it 1 and 1 together and decipher that the answer for all ills is Mukhi like you have done so.

How many people have left AAP ? If you offer the right amount of money and incentive to me, I will sign paens of even Sadhvi Jyoti or Yeddyruppa or defend Adani.
