mentality of all of Gaza

With unique access to a Qassam rocket-launching team in the Gaza strip and the Israeli helicopter-pilots hunting them down, this archive report offers a rare insight into the tactics used on both sides today.

Terrorist Attack on Bus in Tel Aviv

A terrorist blew blown up a Dan local bus on Shaul HaMelech street in central Tel Aviv aroun noon. Five people suffered serious injuries, and two are in serious condition while three people are in moderate conditon. No one was killed.

Twenty-one people have been evacuated to Icholov Hospital, most of them with lesser injuries. Others are being treated for emotional shock.

Eyewitnesses said that that the terrorist boarded the bus, placed a suspicious package there and then fled. Police arrested one suspect but later released him when it became clear he had no connection with the attack.

Authorities said there was no advanced warning of a terrorist attack. No terrorist group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, but Islamic Jihad and Hamas have threatened to strike anywhere in Israel.

TV images showed the bus with its windows blown out and its metal frame contorted from the force of the blast, in images reminiscent of scenes from previous terrorist bombings in the Second Intifada, also known as the Oslo War.

The front window was completely shattered and glass littered the floor as the wounded were loaded into ambulances by an army of medics, AFP reported.

The blast took place as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on ways to end a deadly spike in bloodshed in and around Gaza over the past week.

Netanyahu's spokesman said it was "a terrorist attack."

Gaza Arabs celebrated the attack, and Hamas officials said it was carried out in revenge for Israeli aerial bombings in Gaza that killed several members of one family.

Egypt announces Hamas-Israel ceasefire, Netanyahu office confirms

Egypt's foreign minister has announced that a ceasefire in Gaza will begin at 19:00 GMT Wednesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that a deal had been reached.
"A short while ago Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with [US] President Barack Obama and agreed to his recommendation to give a chance to an Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire and thereby give an opportunity for the stabilization of the situation and a calming of it," the Netanyahu office's statement reads.
Earlier, Israeli sources said the siege of Gaza will not be lifted despite the truce, Al Jazeera reported.-
The announcement comes after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and UN chief Ban Ki-Moon traveled to Cairo on Wednesday to push for a ceasefire as the conflict entered its eighth day.

IDF Summarizes Operation: 1,500 Gaza Targets Hit

The IDF hit more than 1,500 targets in Gaza during Operation Pillar of Defense, according to a statement released Wednesday night.

The statement was a summary of the counterterrorist operation, which came to an end after a ceasefire was announced on Wednesday evening.

The IDF said it achieved the goals that were set prior to the operation and dealt a severe blow to Hamas and its military capabilities.

As a result of the IDF's strikes, said the statement, there was significant damage to Hamas's command array, including the targeted killing of arch-terrorist Ahmed Jaabari, extensive damage to infrastructure, facilities and Hamas military bases, as well as the bombing of dozens of smuggling tunnels.

The IDF said that its airstrikes destroyed and damaged Hamas's strategic capabilities, including long-range rockets and hundreds of medium-range and short-range rockets. Consequently, Hamas's launching capabilities were significantly disrupted.

Over the course of Operation Pillar of Defense, the IDF targeted 19 senior command centers, operational control centers and Hamas' senior-rank headquarters, 30 senior operatives, 140 smuggling tunnels, 66 terror tunnels, dozens of Hamas operation rooms and bases, and 26 weapon manufacturing and storage facilities.

In total, 1,506 rockets were fired at Israel during Pillar of Defense, of which 875 exploded in open spaces and 58 exploded in populated areas. The Iron Dome anti-missile system intercepted 421 rockets, with a success rate of 84%.

Five Israelis, including four civilians and one soldier, were killed during the days of the operation and 240 people were wounded.

^^Go Israel! Not just an eye, but an eye, both hands and both legs for an eye! That's the only way to deter fanatics-to be even more fanatical in finishing them off!
