IMO blue digital camouflage is the best for the IAF

For army if they operate LCH's in desert, they can go with LUH's camouflage

These paintjobs seen on LUH and LCH are all done by HAL's paintshop and the idea is to get attention/look good.

Services will specify what paintjobs they want and it's very unlikely they will be close to what has been on the LCH/LUH TDs

Basic question..

What purpose does the camouflage serve on a combat heli?

The same purpose camouflage uniforms are issued to soldiers- to make it harder for them to be identified visually.
It’s a silly conversation, but indulge me.

Makes sense for soldiers because they have to merge with their surroundings.

Against what background combat heli has to be camouflaged for? Blue, saffron hue during dusk & dawn and night sky?

And when it lands, Tarmac and airbase are either in cement color or black.

So what exactly is camo on a combat heli for.

Only combat heli colours that make sense to me are IA’s desert shade, IAF Tipnis grey and Rudra’s black.

You're largely correct hence why Tipnis grey is standard for IAF and Rudras are Black

Only thing outstanding is IA needs to seriously adopt a standard tan/desert print for their units. It's silly seeing desert troops/units with woodland camo and black helos. The army's Apaches are coming in Dark Green which is fine for the North and East but if they deploy them in the West it will be stupid looking too.

Rudras/LCH in the desert in Black is just silly

Knowledge gained from reply by actual Apache pilot on Quora.

An attack helicopter aint meant to soar high up in the sky. It will stay behind armored formation and stay low... using sand dunes, hills, even tree-line at the horizon to snipe the enemy armour or positions with F&F ATGM. Ideally a tank without laser warning will not even know it is being targetted.

So, camo pattern is necessary to be similar to landscape.

Yup, this brings to my main point I wanted to convey.

When ever we talk about combat heli camo, the region where they are going to be deployed in is very much relevant.

And it can’t too well camouflaged that rescuers can’t recognise in case of crash in that particular terrain.

It'll have GPS homing beacon that pilots can turned on for recuers.
But good camo can help it stay hidden from naked eyes on the ground as long as it suppresses its signature. The Apache pilot stressed on its importance saying, if detected a tank's APFSDS can rip apart any attack helicopter. Mi-25/35 is made history by 23mm on Toyota!
Rudra will most likely provide support against lightly armed infantry/artillerymen after transporting SF.

See-first-hit-first is its whole game over fixed wing aircrafts... thus the low radar observability, masked heat signatures, reduced noise generation.

Another image, to the left and right you can see LSP units that HAL has produced without any formal order from the IA/IAF utilising their own funds. This will result in a delivery timeline of months instead of weeks when an eventual order is placed by the services.

Recall the previous crash in Arunachal last year I think , it took them one or two days to visually locate the crashed Dhruv.
In that case, black makes sense if it is because of the reason you say.

Why there is no integrated defence system on LCH ?

No MAWS no CMDS no RWRs..... nothing

Why this lacuna

Nobody will order a attack helicopter without self defence suite

Supposed to be... FOC will, but didn't buy those for LCH prototypes. Rudra has everything popping out of its body.

If we developed maws, rwr and lwr and chaff for aircrafts so why not for helicopters. what about jammer is it fitted in LCH.
Maybe they will... Maybe that is the reason.
I don't know that much.
