When can it be realistically expected that GSLV Mk2( or Mk3) launch two fairly large satellites into a geosynchronous( or geostationary) orbit, the way Ariane vehicles do? ISRO would really be entering the big leagues when it does that!

It is about total weight than number of satellites. Capacity of LVM3 is 4.2 tonnes to GTO, 10 tonnes to LEO a medium lift launcher vs capacity of Ariane is 10 tonnes to GTO and 20 tonnes to LEO, a heavy lift launcher.

SCE-200 integration will push LVM3 into somewhat 50% payload cap increase. Heavy lift launchers are still at early stages of development in India.
