Global giant IFS to increase India's war readiness

Among its major customers in India are the National Hydro Power Company (NHPC), which will have 13,000 users, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) with 10,000 users.
Today we all live in a state of uncertain possibilities and in a precariously volatile situation where enemies are not just visible. India as a sovereign country has remained committed to other nation’s territorial integrity and has endeavored for peace. But, in current situation, where terrorism is expanding its base in our neighborhood, it becomes all the more important to know and understand whether we as a nation are up to that challenge and task. Is our defense mechanism and equipments well prepared to thwart the challenges posed by these destructive elements who have gained an edge, courtesy IT and its resources?
A research conducted by IFS had some startling facts which throw the myth out of the box that India is ready for any war. Following are the facts that were revealed by IFS in a Press Conference hailed in New Delhi:
· 50% of the equipment in the armed forces are obsolete and the modernization program is lagging behind by more than a decade
· Lead time of procurement of equipment even with approved budget is very long as compared to nations like US, France and China.
· Integrated logistics support system that enables real time information sharing between designer and manufacturer of the defense equipment and the services is not available
· 25% of the naval ships are not war ready
· A big % of aging fighter aircraft are past it’s prime and might result in embarrassing Indian Airforce.
· Limited fund available for integrating the three services for effective collaborative war through real-time sharing of information between Army, Navy and Air Force
· Supply chain system is struggling to ensure the right item, in the right condition, at the right place, in the right quantity and at the right time.
In crux the facts were enough to give some sleepless nights to those responsible for India’s defence and security.
IFS suggests way ahead:
The members who attended the gathering included IFS delegates from across the globe as well as defence experts. The body was of the general consensus that one of the major problems of the nation is project management. Time and cost overrun of projects are major concerns for corporate and the government. Using ERP solution specifically designed for project centric organizations, projects can be delivered on time and within budget.
REVAMPING DEFENSE, ENERGY AND PROJECT CENTRIC ORGANIZATIONS
