WASHINGTON — The German government will purchase 60 Boeing Chinook heavy-lift helicopters to equip the armed forces in a deal reportedly worth upwards of $4 billion, according to a Ministry of Defense announcement on Wednesday beating Lockheed Martin CH-53K.

The CH-47F Block 2 “Standard Range” variant aircraft are refuelable during flight, a key requirement for the German armed forces, the statement said. They are slated to replace the Bundeswehr’s fleet of aging CH-53, made by Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky.

Masterpiece country chose Ursula Van Der Leyen to be their defense minister
Yeah well let's see how Christine Lambrecht holds up in the long run. So far a good start when it comes to modernising the Bundeswehr!

It is amusing though how many Western European defense ministers are from the gender that doesn't get to die in wars or called up in military conscription.

It's like appointing a man to be in charge of the maternity ward.

Sitaraman flashbacks also technically the gender does not matter for the role of defence minister since he/she won't be dying in the battlefield either way, and defence ministers don't lay out strategies for combat they approve them.
