Armed Forces and CAPFs need to rigorously test there soldiers and cadets more in order to remove people who are mentally unstable and aren’t fit enough to do there duty. Not everybody in the Armed, Para and CAPF forces are not there because of patriotism towards there country some are there to put food on the table for there family. A person who is motivated to join the forces will thrive in the forces more than person who is there for other reasons. I am not saying all the people who joined the forces for other reasons than Patriotism are not patriotic but not everybody can handle stressful situations or traumatic experiences that can occur on battlefield or peacetime easily.

People who get angry easily or are ready to snap in an instant should be evaluated before allowed to join the forces. People need to understand that life in the armed forces is not for everyone and it can take a piece out of you. Life in the CAPFs are much harder and stressful than that of the armed forces as CAPFs have much less resources to work with than there armed forces counterparts. Ultimately the fratricide incidents like these are a blot on the military forces and can wreck havoc on the morale of the unit. These types of incidents helps enemies of the country as soldiers who fall for “Honey Traps” set up by enemy intelligence could easily be Disgruntled soldiers who have turned against there own military. The government and military leadership need to pour more resources into mental health for betterment of the jawans and for strengthening the defense of the country.

Cud also be work pressure and higher ups.
This is the most probable cause.

Most jawans join BSF, CAPFs for job. Patriotism is later inserted through training and brotherhood.

Anyhow, there are quite a few reasons for the problem which can be avoided. The colonial mindset the still prevails in Indian bureaucracy and police forces gets even more emphasised in such armed forces where discipline is even more stringent. As I have been around the block for quite a while, I know that the abuse of power by senior officers on junior officers are very common even in bureaucracy and I would venture guess that the problem is greater in CAPFs. Also, the risk profile of the CAPFs are almost comparable to units like Assam Rifles or Rastriya Rifles, but unlike MoD units, the CAPFs under MoH gets a lot fewer benefits. Also there are that perennial problem of guests from IPS services coming and doing a 2-3 years stint at the highest echeleon where the actual needs and necessities if CAPFs get totally ignored. Add to it the some of them might have psychological break downs due to excess stress or combat faced, or even for family situations that obviously get ignored by the oblivious senior officers.

Mental health is ignored a lot here and thats why such cases happen a lot, don’t know what high ranking officers are doing to deal with this issue but they should take immediate steps.
Every security personnel must be allowed to visit their family once in a month or on regular basis,, staying away from family for longer period of time will definitely take hit on one's emotional and mental feelings. We must do away with two months leaves at one go. Subverting biologicals urges can also take toll on mental health.
