You are asking something beyond their capability.I hope these are not just assembly factories, let's see if they manage to setup the entire manufacturing supply chain here.

No, Taiwanese companies rarely invested in infrastructure projects as they simply don't have that much money and that kind of technology. This is a good opportunity for India to showcase talent to countries such as Taiwan etc. I think FICCI and other state government bodies should start India-Taiwan business partnership so as to get more investment from Taiwanese companies other than FOXCONN. Also Taiwan has 5th largest foreign exchange reserves in the world (three places ahead of India). The Taiwanese government may also invest in India's infrastructure projects and other sectors.
Picking up the phone and calling Vietnam and Thailand:" you get a new competitor here, you have to move quickly".How will China react to this? :biggrin2:

SoftBank may invest at least $20 billion in India’s solar energy projectsNo, Taiwanese companies rarely invested in infrastructure projects as they simply don't have that much money and that kind of technology.
===Foxconn and China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co Ltd. Almost 1,000 hectares have been identified near Pune for Beiqi Foton, which wants to start manufacturing light transport vehicles

Anyone gave a thought to "water" required by semiconductor (wafer) manufacturing plants ? Can someone elaborate upon the industry's water need vs. supply (water availablity) in India ?I hope these are not just assembly factories, let's see if they manage to setup the entire manufacturing supply chain here.
After Micromax, Lava and samsung this is the fourth big player to start in india. i really hope somebody starts manufacturing 40 inch+ LED tv here, i have always felt they are overpriced atleast by 10-15k.
Oh, yes, Japanese money and Chinese technology.SoftBank may invest at least $20 billion in India’s solar energy projects
New Delhi: In late 2014, SoftBank Corp.’s Masayoshi Son pledged to invest at least $10 billion in India over the following decade. On Monday, the Japanese firm said it was partnering Bharti Enterprises Ltd and China’s Foxconn Technology to invest at least $20 billion in solar energy projects in the country.

Well!!! They seem to have capability, technology and the money for JV.
India is also trying to set up manufacturing facilities of Micro chips and other components.Oh, yes, Japanese money and Chinese technology.
Do you really know what Foxconn is about? They are contract manufacturer, they master in assembling! They didn't even start any solo energy business until 2013. So guess from whom they get the technology and key components?
Doesnt matter whom they get technology...They key is Foxconn is "able" to get what they want. Thats good business. If companies dont provide another with tech or components , foxconn or any company for that matter with capacity will try to make it own their own that makes the "able to get" part easier. They are contract manufacturer, they master in assembling! always trying, but have never accomplished.India is also trying to set up manufacturing facilities of Micro chips and other components.

Foxconn has good research labs...and they do have some innovative products. They are not just master in assembling.
as if you are the only one who could read news, but can you read Chinese news? dont forget that foxconn is after all a Chinese company.^^
I understood what Foxconn's investment in India is about, what they do.. cuz I am able to read news papers online from various sources unlike you!!
No..I dont want to read Biased news churned out by CCP.as if you are the only one who could read news, but can you read Chinese news? dont forget that foxconn is after all a Chinese company.

To bring you upto date...Foxconn did that in China and is converting to assembly using robots to avoid hiring cheapest chinese labour.what foxconn is doing is simply labor-intensive business, which is highly sensitive to labor cost and always pursuing cheap human resource, not some kind of high tech business you guys are trying to pass off.
Not really cuz Chinese are PITA for Foxconn ...not only that..with no respect for IP and shameless stealing(GooPhone)Foxconn is moving out to sensible locations...+ Beijings stance with its neighborsfoxconn is moving out for a simple reason, indians are cheaper than Chinese.
India is establishing fab cities and there is digital revolution about to happen with investments close to 90 Billion dollars.always trying, but have never accomplished.

But .... But China got those factories because of the same reason of chinese being cheap in the last decade, add to that the prision camps and working conditions with no human rights. One can easily produce the goods cheap in China at that time.as if you are the only one who could read news, but can you read Chinese news? dont forget that foxconn is after all a Chinese company.

India is a democracy which can protect the human rights of the working class so .... np.to be honest, I have no problem with foxconn shifting business to India.
but I cant ignore the irony in indian posters' welcome attitude towards foxconn.
not many years ago, right here at this forum, foxconn was regarded as sweatshop and Chinese working for foxconn were likened to slaves.
the same devil foxconn is now coming to India, our indian posters are already opening their arms to embrace the devil.

That is not what Taiwanese can bring to you.India is also trying to set up manufacturing facilities of Micro chips and other components.
Last time I check, India still has one of largest child labour in the world. Now, tell me how did this democracy protect them.India is a democracy which can protect the human rights of the working class so .... np.
