It's basically just a hard bargain really; trying to take as much as they can for themselves, while highlighting that they do not want to fight. It's like the situation where someone is sitting on a park bench and the person sitting beside keeps inching towards the other guy while talking sweetly. It goes to a point that the first guy just gets up and walks off or is forced to punch the creep.
Well, the fact is the first guy is doing exactly same thing. No one is innocent here.

Weird analogy but it holds true for the CCP. They do not want a direct confrontation as they are currently on the hit list of all western powers and the fact that there is enough internal turmoil within China. Lockdowns, food hoarding, experiments going wrong, people protesting, alleged failing health of Emperor Xi, etc.. This means the CCP is not in a position to take a hostile outward stance against everyone. The last thing they want is for a troubled world to forget Russia and re-focus back on CCP.
Well, you can say the same things about every country in this world. Everyone is getting a lot of internal troubles on their hand.

Unless and until we respond in kind, this salami-slicing and hot-and-cold policy will continue.
The "secret" is India has been doing that for a long long time.

They are playing good US administration, bad media/academia with Indian leadership.
I wonder if it will work.

preferably answer would have been "we should keep in mind that world community largely ignored India, when just two years ago during the pandemic Indian and Chinese tanks were facing each other 100 metres apart high up in the Himalayas, most of world community does not even know about it".

the term "fragmented world" "economic fragmentation" is being thrown about quite a bit, will have to keep an eye on why it is being popularised, the intention behind it and if there is any impact on us. it is coming from davos crowd.

i have no opinions on this at this point in time.

This is construct you're trying to impose on India. Don't think it's necessary for India to join any axis.India entitled to make its own choices which will be a balance of its values &interests:EAM on being asked about US-led axis & China as another potential axis in world

Europe has to grow out of mindset that its problems are world's problems, but world's problems aren't Europe's problems. Today linkages being made b/w China & India&what's happening in Ukraine. Common guys, China & India happened way before Ukraine. It's not a clever argument: EAM

my impression of what Jai Shankar would say:
"I would advise G7 chair to stand with territorial integrity and rules based order, there cannot be one rule for europe and another for asia".
Ofcourse the violation and denying agencies to the sovereign parliaments of the world is violation of rule based world order.
