Our PM Narendra Modi will be the first Indian PM who has decided to preside over a meeting of UNSC. This is our eighth stint on the UNSC: Former permanent representative of India to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin on India assuming UNSC presidency for August https://t.co/zQczmz7r1I

In 75 plus yrs, this is the first time our political leadership has invested in presiding over an event of UNSC. It shows that leadership wants to lead from the front. It also shows that India&its political leadership are invested in our foreign policy ventures: Syed Akbaruddin

Although this is a virtual meeting, it's still a first meeting of the sort for us. So, it is historic. Last time an Indian PM was engaged in this effort was the then PM PV Narasimha Rao in 1992 when he attended a UNSC meeting: India's former envoy to UN, Syed Akbaruddin https://t.co/iAHcVXo2os

Too biased towards indian side imo. 🤔

Are we also investing in this kind of journalism like China and Pakistan?
Nope, GoI does not spend money on perception management like the paki do. GoI does spend money on diplomatic events like inauguration buildings or building Gandhi statues or trade events or cultural events , but not on perception management like paki do per se.

India’s foreign policy has not matured enough to implement such perception management games. here’s where what vijay Gokhale said recently matters, Chinese diplomats and media have their party ideology to guide them. It can be argued murican have their national self interest to serve irrespective of their ideology. both Newyork times and Fox are essentially forwarding their national self interest with their commentary, methods and ideology might vary.

In India’s case since national self interest is decided at a political level, there is a continuity break when a different political party comes to power. bureaucrats being bureaucrats play safe, because they don’t know if their next boss will agree with them or punish them with punishment posting.

We must move beyond the need for government babu directed perception games.

It's better to invest in new international oriented private establishments that can be controlled by pro india lobbies.

Take wion for instance.
It still needs more work and investment though.

These new private set ups can be made more credible by giving better accesss, info scoops and key interviews with government ministers etc.

I don't think it's a question about maturity in government or foreign policy, the whole political culture itself is very primitive and underdeveloped.
What stopped mudi from giving an interview to swarajya?

i don’t think national self interest should be defined by politicians, since somebody new always come to power and they have their own electoral compulsions.

Who exactly in India should do it, is a different debate all together. Not sure at the moment.

One thing can be said with certainty is that Lutyens gang is being a hindrance in defining our national self interest, they are not allowing the population to settle down and have a sane discussion. them always running an interference with some controversy or the other hijacking national discourse every month.

Not politicians. Political ideology.

Already the Lutyens gang and Marxists control many of our media organisations.
let’s take US & QUAD as an example, it took a non-politician disrupter like trump to come to power to break the self imposed shackles on Afghanistan and China by their political establishment.

Argument can be made that political ideology is a hindrance, because opposition political ideology will cause hindrance.

In effect perhaps there should be something more fundamental than political ideology to drive national self interest in terms of foreign policy.

Indian newspaper: Vietnam emerging as post-pandemic economic power in region
Vietnam and India are emerging as economic powers in the region that will make a difference in the post-pandemic times, The Economic Times cited Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma as saying.

New Delhi (VNA) – Vietnam and India are emerging as economic powers in the region that will make a difference in the post-pandemic times, The Economic Times cited Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma as saying.

The ambassador was speaking at a recent webminar on global trade and investment opportunities for Indian industry in Vietnam organised by India’s PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).

Vietnam and India have emerged as global trade partners due to their policy initiatives and increase in their trade and investments, he said.

While applauding PHDCCI’s diligent efforts in fostering business and trade relations of India with other countries of the world, Verma discussed challenges faced in Vietnam related to disruption in production, supply chain, logistics, and many more yet at the same time arising of new opportunities in areas of technology, business practices, trade relations, diversifying partners and trade baskets.

Verma emphasised that there is a need for Vietnam and India to take advantage of each other’s economic strength for increasing business relations between the two nations, at the same time leverage each other’s global value chains to utilise each other’s trade network.

There is also a need to look at the domestic market, especially in India that can offer growth opportunities to Vietnam with focus on e-documentation and e-payments which help to increase business growth and foster B2B engagement, connecting MSMEs.

There is a need for structural improvement where the government and business partners need to work in sync and also improve shipping connectivity between the two nations.

He further added that mutual recognition of standards and certifications will have a positive impact on the trade and electrical machinery vertical.

Counselor Do Thanh Hai spoke about the flow of economic and trade opportunities between Vietnam and India despite the pandemic, saying the economic and trade exchange will pick up in the time to come.

There is a restructuring of the global supply chain and both nations have the capabilities to take advantage of the opportunity. With the strategic location of both nations and change in reforms, there will be an increase in trade exchange and will be a driving engine for the global economy in near future, he said./.
