What is the etymology of Hind. Have you ever tried going back to the root of that word. I HAVENT YET
The Indian name for Sindhu becomes Hindu in old Avestan (Persia). From there the name spreads to Arabia as Hind. Further west it spreads as Indica in Greek, eventually becoming India in English.
The Persians initially referred to all Indians according to the river in India closest to them. Indians ourselves on the other hand have always referred to the entire subcontinent as Bharat, starting way back in the Rig veda.
Funnily, the Arab word for spices is Baharat, alluding to the source of their spices.
