LHB cost is 2.5 to 3.5 Cr INR, VB coach will be around 5 to 6 Cr per coach. These coaches imported from Sugar country is around 700 to 800 thousand USD, thus around the 5.5 to 6.5 cr INR.

160 kmph isn't high speed rail. India's existing trains run at 180 kmph, can operate at 200-220 kmph and Indian railways institute is quite capable of producing a 250 kmph range train today.

Even they don't call it high speed train.

On the one hand I am happy to see China fleece Pakistan left and right. The debt, interest payments, electricity generation fees etc. that are due down the road are beyond the scope of understanding of 95 percent of Pakis. The fact that most Pakis do not even begrudge the ceding of Shaksgam Valley to China in 1963 is clearly indicative of a slave mindset. Even more land could be ceded in the near future in Gilgit etc. Also not to forget, the lack of Paki protests at the massive reduction in birth rates that China has enforced in Xinjiang in order to reduce the country's < 2 percent Muslim population.

But it is a Catch-22. Pakis have enabled yet another increase in China's wealth, land area and potential to harm India. "Enemy of my enemy is"...in this case, no friend in either direction :-(

Yes,Yes I didn't read the article properly (was speed reading). It was cleared after @Cheepek replied to my post.

Road transport lobbies in Pakistan always wins at last.

Speed rail lekar kya ukhaad lenge bichaare Pakistani.

Nope, IR is upgrading them one by one, so there will be low speed tracks remaining in large parts of the country but will eventually be upgraded to higher speed as mentioned by Ashwini Vaishnaw.

How do they plan to tackle the railroad crossings and stray cattle/livestock?
