Pakistan's economic crisis
It was assumed by many experts in pakiland that Shahbaz gov will increase fuel price before their meeting with IMF. This was a major precondition set to them by IMF. As PKR depreciates daily and FX reserves are declining to an alarming level such fuel subsidy is destroying pakistani economy.
However paki gov's decision to continue fuel subsidy has definitely put a spanner in recovery process. Negotiations with IMF will be tough now. The bailout package for pakistan could he delayed by weeks if not months after this stupid move. In a cash strapped country like pakistan this could be a very dangerous situation.
I think Sharif gov is expecting an early elections or maybe they don't want to anger people by increasing prices. Whatever reason maybe this cheap votebank politics stunt will definitely have a serious impact on paki economy unless they are certain to get some money from other sources in case of emergency.
Right now pakistan's economic condition doesn't look very good and the way their stock market is collapsing, the way their currency is weakening and most importantly inability of their politicians to introduce tough measures indicates that it maybe headed towards a bankruptcy like Sri Lanka.
