Are you English-French or something like that or just live in Englistan?

This is a dumb plane designed to dominate over small nations that can't defend themselves....its a pig in terms of weight and every algorithm probably maps to O(n) squared at best instead of commonly desired log. It demonstrates the corruption of all elements of US government.
It's descent on global comparison , too much risk is the only reason of downfall . They wanted interoperability but tech wasn't matured enough , avionics are one of the best still, and upgradation in process.

Btw ,@BON PLAN is a French guy , as pure French as French cheese

Just saw his profile flag union jack, I just fail to see wisdom and objectivity in post 2000 US military projects. Last good one is F-22 even if expensive and rest all are objectively duds and unproven against peers. Planes, ships and so on.....collectively losing wisdom and objectivity and leadership. By all means this plane has not proven with in reason of doubt its overall cost justification. No doubt good plane but proved to be a platform that is not miles ahead to peers.

i think the f35 is a good-enough plane that will age well like the f 16.i think it will be the f16 of the future us air arm.

its story is like the panther in the late german army of world war 2.it had technical issues before it became reliable and powerful.same issues are faced by the usa during its devolpment and intital prduction periods.

the issue is not the plane itself but the whole machinary and events around it.its the overall cost/benefit analysis of it.they started this f35 concept to be an effective and CHEAP fifth generation fighter bringing many new age technologies to maturation which would renew the edge against any near peer adversaries.instead due to the delays and complications, they have got a good plane, but it has dragged on so much that other countries have come up and are going to field their own fifth generation aircraft taking into account their own combat doctrines and situations they are likely to face(going full stealth/going part bfm part stealth/etc).it is not like in the cold war where every new aircraft created a drastic advantage in terms of performance and capability.

also unlike germany in world war 2,the f35 will be the sherman of us airforce and naval air arm.it wont be invincible by a long shot, but it will more than make up for it being numerous.it just doesnt have anything super special other than the fact that it is going to be produced the most in comparison to other 5th gen aircraft in other nations.america is not used to just being equal to its adversary nations in a while.think if the panther in german army world war 2 would have been produced further to the like of the t34 and further modified with more enhancements like the panther 2 with smal turm, etc.i think that will be the story of the f35.

it is going to be the workhorse of the air for usa,so they have make do with it when the >5 gen aircraft inevitably retire.they are also planning on ngad to reachieve tech superiority.

what the us should watch out though is being swamped and out manufactured and over costing of its equipment which will inevitable lead to less no of equipment it can purchase using the budget given and become like the british right now.the plane itself is fine, but it shouldn't be like the story of the maus,tiger2,tiger 1 in world war 2 where excellent but prohibitively expensive and wasteful design is pursued instead of workhorse ok and good enough designs lie the panther and the stug and panzer 4 leaading to misallocation of precious resources and time.the us is also entering a period of military budget strain unlike the previous decades.

the american navy part is already getting swamped if you are keeping track of the scs situation as china is already out building usa and it has higher no of new and modern ships too .for some reason all us (and all western equipment in general)equipment is getting more expensive resulting in military death spiral like uk.only france and russia seem to be immune.

Your arguments kinda lack evidence as there is no data to prove its efficiency but there is plenty on the contrary side kinda mathematically speaking in terms of proof (Israeli attacks on Syria do not count), this project is a failure and on a dangerous scale as it consumed all resources from the US and robbed it off from having a next gen fighter anywhere close to being real, so basically at best it is on equal level as others and damaged US's ability to move forward vs others. Radars are getting better (alreadY) and this wonder is ever more in doubt. It is no F-16 and wont see that level of life or production. This is also a collab work which adds more dampers to the overall thing. Only an idiotic and incompetent leadership would be capable of losing 20 year lead with 5th and not having a next gen close to realization. Wait till the woman and quota system goes full spectrum, we will see some gems in the future by replacing reasonably fair merit system!!

f16 was also very plagued when it arrived,it got better with time and became a workhorse.most of the time it is not the platform itself but the nos too.you can kill an f35,but in the large scheme of things the adversaries warfighting capability will be destroyed for comparitively less no of f35s lost.the issue is usa has never faced a usa clone like china which can produce like for like equipment and so it can rest and have a chalta hai attitude towards weapons devlopment or procurement.the f35 story in any other time would be acceptable for the usa but it came during a critical time of great power competition and that is what matters.it cant take its time.the enemy is not a el presidente dictatorship like saddam's iraq military but china with 16 tr dollar economy and war industry running already in full steam cranking out equipment like sausages.

context matters.

Not even close comparison. As i already made my guess everything in this plane has a complexity close to squared and physically it is at the large end of the single engined plane vs F-16 which started light and added fat but along with justified features at reasonable cost. There are various types of deficiencies and bugs and F-16 ones are not fatal while this one looks more so to the point that it may become irrelevant to fix rather than start new again. Back then US had some very wise engineers that used to run these shops and now its MBA material with no technical ground.....idiots are lording everywhere in Western world particularly North America.

Click bait article hardly count, sure it got bugs, but all fighters does, it just a matter of how well publicized these bugs are. A massive multi countries program will always draw more attention

Radar getting better doesn't mean stealth loss its value. Unless you can make a radar that is invulnerable to any type of jamming (which there isn't any) and jamming keep advance too
So as long as jamming keep improve, then stealth will always has significant value, because stealth and jamming has a synthetic relationship. Lower RCS will always make jamming more effective

Fighters can carry miniature cruise missile with jamming capability, so even HoJ missile are not really of an issue to them

What do they mean by this? Фотонные радары, радиофотоника и стелс-технологии (naukatehnika.com)

"Unlike traditional radars, it will not be physically possible to silence ROFAR by traditional means of EW. The dynamic range of the photon crystal is about 200 DB. Modern electronic receiver, for comparison, has a range of 40 - 60 DB, and we modern EW complexes provide a signal to the entrance of the radio receiver - in 70-80 DB relative to its threshold sensitivity. Thus, the device that needs to receive the signal is displayed from a healthy state. Even after the interference in his inside there are still processes that do not allow him to work. But on Earth there is simply no energy source for a signal with a capacity greater than 200 DB, so this logic in the case of ROFAR simply does not work. It can be confused by so-called intellectual opposition, but this is a different story."

Based on the content of that article, it is either a terrible propaganda piece or simply to click bait or the author have no idea what he writing about or only understand it vaguely so he try to put as many cool buzz words in it as possible, many of his paragraph doesn't make any sense whatsoever. This is basically the same as "plasma stealth" when it was still "cool"
For example:
“ROFAR will allow us to see the plane located 500 kilometers away, as if we were standing 50 meters away from it at the airfield, its portrait in the video range. Moreover, if necessary, this technology will allow you to look into the plane itself, find out what people and equipment are in it, since the signal can pass any obstacles, even meter-long lead walls, thanks to the use of a wide frequency range, penetrating to different depths into the object. "
This make absolutely no sense whatsoever, very high resolution can be explained by technology such as SAR or ISAR, but penetrating inside the aircraft and meter long lead wall? that just bs nonsense and nothing more. Whether a wave can penetrate a certain material or not depend solely on the wave and the material itself. Unless this magical radar can suddenly change the physics law, its radio wave not going to penetrate the fuselage of aircraft. Yes there are earth penetrating radar, but that a massive different from penetrating the metal surface of aircraft , let alone a meter deep lead wall. The author frankly just don't understand physic at this point.
Then there is this
KRET wrote that radio-optical phased antenna arrays will significantly expand the capabilities of modern communications and radars - their resolution will increase tenfold. If a modern radar has a radiation frequency of 10 GHz, 3 cm with a spectrum width of 1-2 GHz, then in ROFAR this frequency can be from 1 Hz to 100 GHz at the same time. In practice, this means that ROFAR can provide a detailed, three-dimensional image of what is happening at a distance of hundreds of kilometers from it. For example, at a distance of 400 km you can not only see a person, but even recognize his face.
Let just say for a moment that this magical ROFAR radar can indeed generate signal anywhere between 1Hz to 100 Ghz, it still doesn't mean that it can operate within that whole band width . The most obvious issue is antenna gain. Which is always aperture dependence. Even at VHF frequency, you would only have an omnidirectional antenna if the antenna can be fit on the nose of fighter. So how the heck does this radar supposed to work at 1 Hz?. Secondly, electronic scanned array steer their beam by using wave interference between transmit elements. But the problem is that the is requirement for the element separation in respect to the operating wavelength. You can't just put a random space between these T/R modules and expect them to work.If the transmitting elements are too close together, then the gain reduced significantly,if they are too far apart, there are grating lobes. The optimum radiating elements spacing is about 1/2 operating wavelength, that isn't an issue if your radar have normal operating band width such as 1-3Ghz wide but from 1 Hz to 100 Ghz ??. Frankly, I don't see how that can possibly work
grating-lobes.png

Anyway, about the paragraph in your question:
“Unlike traditional radars, it will not be physically possible to drown out ROFAR with traditional electronic warfare means. The dynamic range of a photonic crystal is approximately 200 dB. A modern radio-electronic receiver, for comparison, has a range of 40 - 60 dB, and we use modern electronic warfare systems to provide a signal to the input of a radio receiver - 70-80 dB relative to its threshold sensitivity. Thus, the device, which should receive the signal, is taken out of serviceable state. Even after removing the obstacle, processes are still going on inside him that do not allow him to work. But on Earth there is simply no source of energy to supply a signal with a power exceeding 200 dB, so this logic in the case of ROFAR simply does not work. It can be confused by the so-called intellectual countermeasures, but that's another story altogether. "
In principle, the most simple way to jam a radar is to drown the receiver in white noise
You can think of it as you are driving in your car at night when suddenly someone shine a very bright light at your face, making it hard for you to see the road.
1.jpg

So, what they saying is that this Rofar has very wide dynamic range, therefore even very strong noise jammer won't make its receiver useless. But there are many type of jamming, white noise jamming is just the most simple one. The jammer can mask its own signal as if it is the same radar reflection coming from target
Anyway, normal radar also have other means to suppress jamming signal such as null steering and sidelobes blanking which give them +125 dB sidelobe jamming resistant performance

Best evidence is real world use and not just claims.....fact is US had a lead of 20 years over everyone else in 5th gen domain and yet they are struggling and no real world use of this plane against even 2nd rated powers. They have nothing on the next gen while there are 10 different countries with 5th gen in different phases and atleast 3 to 4 countries that have prototypes and 2 countries that commisioned. All indications are this is a
'white elephant" and liberally harsh trojan horse that robbed them of going ahead with next gen and secure lead over others in the span of 20 years. Absolute corrupt thinking of dominating every little and big guy tends to bring these results. This was Bush admin wisdom or lack of it and the successive ones are even worse.....or the lowering of bar in every institution practically under some MBA or no field or military expertise person in those domains.

Problem with drawing out any equations to communicate on RADARS and other military studies is that their validity is in absolute domains like in vaccum or at absolute pressures and so on with other physics related stuff. Like 1G ethernet at 1000 Mbps but in effect we all know ethernet goes at 70% throughput (or used to) and Wifi even less.....quoting equations might get you off on feeling good but real world studies are covered under secrecy by respective countries. U-2 was shot down...a real world example. Myth busters proved dropping a penny in theory from Empire state building should kill someone if it lands on them....almost supersonic speed but in reality air resistence and friction make it unlikely to the other end of probability. Uninteresting way if you try to quote equations on these sort of things without some empirical experiments..

dont be shy you might as well include all the sources since they have their reference frequency ranges. I need you to watch me stroke it for it now. Its not all one and done or lets hype something up and than never mention it again.

31:52(english subtitles) there is an interesting bit on photonic radar operating in the Terra hertz frequency range.

https://itech.aorti.ru/upload/iblock/467/rti_ii_4_19_2017.pdf page 24. Sintering approaches are also used layers of structure or combining through polyimide layers and selective epitaxial growth of active layers in areas formed topology on the plate. Here flexibility of technologies is combined with high technology and complexity, the need for precise control of material parameters and critical dimensions of topology elements. An increase in the performance, functionality, and reliability of radio-photonic circuits is possible only when switching from discrete elements to integral. Construction of complex radio-photonic systems in the frequency range more than 30–40 GHz on the basis of discrete components becomes problematic and ineffective; therefore, the increase in the frequency range is typical for the FIS. For instance, a combination of the А3В5 / Si heterogeneous integration technology and the use of micro ring resonators as part of a PIS modulator recently allowed to create by developers record superlinear modulator with free dynamic range in the USA 117 dB · Hz2 / 3 [3]. FROM THE CENTER OF COMPETENCE TO CLUSTER One of the most important active elements of the radio-photonic component base is a microwave modulator. When using radio-photonic schemes with external modulation, the laser emits in a continuous mode, and the modulation of the signal is carried out by the modulator. This is currently the approach made it possible to achieve maximum modulation frequencies of 100 GHz and data transmission rates up to 400 Gbit / s. The development of a component base for radiophotonics has begun in Russia. For example, a modulator based on lithium niobate was developed at the Physicotechnical Institute (FTI) named after A.F. Ioffe RAS. However, until now, there was practically no groundwork in the country integrated radio-photonics technologies for formation of FIS. As a result, NRNU MEPhI became one of the leading centers of excellence for creation of a cluster for integrated radio photonics. It has great scientific and technical potential for research and developments in this extremely important area. Firstly, NRNU MEPhI has an experienced technological line for the development of electronic and optoelectronic devices for microwave electronics based on non-silicon heterostructures А3В5. Most of the processes on the creation of integrated radio photonics components on the InP technological platform.

https://rg.ru/2018/04/08/revoliuciia-v-tehnike-lokacii-v-rossii-sozdaetsia-radiofotonnaia-rls.html "A team of specialists on the basis of the Research Institute of long-range radar is developing a fundamentally new X-band radar station, operating on the basis of radiophoton technologies

For example, the basis of radar systems for missile defense and tracking of space objects are huge radar systems. The rooms in which the equipment is located are multi-storey buildings. The use of photonic technology will fit all the control and processing systems in much smaller dimensions - literally in several rooms. At the same time, the technical capabilities of radars to detect even small objects at a distance of thousands of kilometers will only increase. Moreover, due to the use of photonic technologies on the radar screen will appear not a mark of the target, and its image, which is unattainable by classical radar. That is, the operator instead of the usual glowing point will see that it is really flying - a plane, a rocket, a flock of birds or a meteorite, it is worth repeating, even thousands of kilometers from the radar.

Now all radar systems - military and civilian - operate in a strictly defined range of frequencies, which complicates technical design and leads to a variety of radar range. Photon radars will achieve the highest degree of unification. They are able to instantly adjust in a very wide range of working frequencies - from meter values to millimeters."

https://russian.rt.com/russia/article/760838-stels-tehnologii-radar-rti. ""Now it is too early to talk about the imminent implementation of a new method of breeding moving objects. To date, it has been proven that it is theoretically possible. There's still a lot of work to do. I think it's going to take about seven years. But if all goes well, this method will give Russia a noticeable advantage on the battlefield," Denisentsev said."

TASS, January 4. The newest radar station "Yakhroma", the construction of which in Crimea was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu at the annual board of the Ministry of Defense, will operate in four ranges with a view of 270 degrees. A source in the military-industrial complex told TASS about it.

"This station has no analogues, it will operate in four bands: meter, centimeter, decimeter and millimeter," the agency's interlocutor said, specifying that the station's view would be 270 degrees.

In December 2020, during the final collegium of the military department, Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu announced that the construction of the newest Yakhroma radar station in Sevastopol would begin in 2021.

The station will enter the missile attack warning system. The main purpose of the system is to detect and escort ballistic missiles fired at the territory of the Russian Federation or its allies as soon as possible.

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. The RTI Joint Stock Company, a developer and producer of high-tech products, will create new radars that operate in terahertz frequency range and are capable of pinpointing the smallest drone, RTI CEO Pavel Laptayev told TASS.

"The terahertz technology [featuring radio wave length below one millimeter] will be converted into a product within five years. These radars can detect small drones, and function in space," Laptayev explained.

I am 110% sure that I think I remember seeing your username browse the photonic radar thread when a user posted this source. https://fpi.gov.ru/press/news/razra...antenna-voshla-v-top-10-izobreteniy-2020-goda

An antenna of low profile height, capable of operating with a wide frequency band, developed within the framework of a project of the Foundation for Advanced Study, was included in the Top 10 of the best inventions of 2020 according to Rospatent.

On the basis of the invention, dummies of antennas were created, an antenna array of the first in the world practice of a working demonstration model of a radio-optical phased active antenna array was built. The technology makes it possible to create antennas and antenna arrays, which can be made in the form of active casing of various carriers with a thickness slightly more than the thickness of the paint-and-lacquer coating.

The main executor of the project is Concern Vega JSC, the head enterprise of the intelligence information systems division of the Ruselectronics holding company of the Rostec State Corporation, specializing in the development and production of an extensive range of modern radio-electronic products and systems for military and civil purposes. The concern's management includes more than 20 organizations. The author of the invention is Dmitry Zaitsev, Deputy General Designer for Radiophotonics of JSC Concern Vega.

I think yours and another users complaint is frequencies like VHF and UHF need huger antennas. Well the antennas of the photonic radar they demonstrated look stackable and in terms of thickness will have no issues spreading all over the body of an aircraft. Oh well but the fun does not stop there.

Industry asked to develop microwave photonics components for RF and microwave applications like radar
DARPA wants lithium-niobate field-configurable modulator arrays (FCMAs) for RF links, RF signal processing, radar, and RF spectrum management.

Although microwave photonics represents an important technology for military applications, the military microwave photonic systems deployed to date repurpose commercial components for military functions.

The most recent developments in industrial telecommunications have been in specialized application-specific photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Today's military applications cannot use these devices, however, because application-specific PICs cannot be repurposed.

The FCMA must be able to operate from 1 MHz to 18 GHz,
and use the nonlinear response of a Mach-Zehnder modulator to suppress a continuous-wave interference signal by 60 decibels to suppress an interference signal with 10 MHz instantaneous bandwidth by 40 decibels -- both while reducing the largest intermodulation distortion by 30 decibels.

The signals-intelligence configuration will improve the intrinsic third-order-limited spurious-free dynamic range of a Mach-Zehnder modulator by 10 decibels.

The radar-beamforming application will provide 360 degrees of RF phase shift that can be modulated at 100 kHz. The communications configuration, meanwhile, must support 10 gigabits per second of modulation on each of the in-phase and quadrature components of a lightwave.

I dont think there is anymore denying that PICs are the next step after MMICs. Also I found something more interesting in regards to photonics but by Raytheon. Raytheon_TechnologyToday_Issue2_2019.pdf pg 44 or pg 24 in PDF.

2D materials enable novel electronics and sensor technologies not previously possible. A recent joint study led by Raytheon BBN and Harvard University indicates that 2D electrons flow like a fluid rather than like a gas.2 This discovery describes a new electrical transport regime in which the interactions among the electrons are much stronger than those between the electrons and the impurities inside the materials. The Raytheon team, in collaboration with MIT and Harvard University, is now using this electron fluid concept to develop electronics with lower power consumption as well as a new ultrawide bandwidth amplifier enabled by steering the electron fluid. The amplifier design is analogous to modulating the direction of a jet stream, achieving wide-bandwidth amplification to more than 100 gigahertz (GHz). Graphene is the first material in the entire 2D material family to be exfoliated down to mono-atomic layer thickness, opening up a new area of nanotechnology. In addition to its outstanding mechanical properties and thermal conductivity, graphene possesses some remarkable properties based on its electron behaviors. The electrons can move as massless particles and follow relativistic dynamics rather than Newtonian dynamics. This departure from conventional conductors gives rise to new fundamental physics in graphene, such as high electronic mobility, wide bandwidth electromagnetic wave absorption, and fast thermal response. These properties translate to innovations in ultrafast infrared sensing and single-photon detection. Raytheon BBN is a prominent player in the research and development of these new nanotechnologies with recent publications in the Physical Review Applied and Nature Nanotechnology scientific journals.3,4 The graphene-based singlephoton detector (Figure 1), for example, shows a sensitivity approximately 10,000 times higher than current state-of-the-art detectors, and promises to enable novel solutions and products in sensing, imaging, and communication applications for Raytheon in years to come.

Another source stated 100,000 times more sensitivity. something on a related note above. Russian researchers explore the prospects for creating photonic integrated circuits (phys.org)

The transition from electronic integrated circuits to faster, more energy-efficient and interference-free optical circuits is one of the most important goals in the development of photon technologies. Photonic integrated circuits (PICs) are already used today for transmitting and processing signals in optical networks and communication systems, including, for example, I/O multiplexers of optical signals and microchips with an integrated semiconductor laser, a modulator and a light amplifier. However, today PICs are mostly used in combination with electronic circuits, while purely photonic devices are not yet competitive.

One of the challenges in creating PICs is the complexity of manufacturing various devices (waveguide couplers, power dividers, amplifiers, modulators, lasers and detectors on a single microchip), since they require different materials. The main materials used in existing PICs are semiconductors (indium phosphate, gallium arsenide, silicon), electro-optical crystals (lithium niobate), as well as various types of glass.

In order to increase the speed of PICs in controlling light flux, researchers are searching for new materials with high optical nonlinearity. Among promising materials, one can name, in particular, microwaveguides based on the newly discovered material, graphene (a layer of carbon atoms one atom thick), in which charge carrier concentrations can be effectively controlled using optical pumping or applied bias voltage.

According to Mikhail Bakunov, head of the UNN General Physics Department, recent theoretical and experimental work shows the possibility of superfast (involving times of several light field periods) carrier concentration changes in graphene, which opens up possibilities for manipulating the amplitude and frequency of light waves (plasmons) directed by the graphene surface.

if RTI, KRET and Vega are not that convincing than maybe Raytheon is. they stated that a several story ground radar is as efficient as a photonic radar on a kamaz truck. Than I am hearing photodetectors giving them 10,000 times more sensitivity.

Are they correct about 40 - 60 dB for threshold sensitivity and that EW systems can only make a jamming signal of 70-80? What kind of jamming are they talking about?

Российский фотонный радар подпишет приговор стелс-самолетам США - ИАНЕД (ianed.ru)

Scientists and designers of the Vega concern have successfully completed the first test of the mock-demonstrator of the active phased antenna of the radar grille, acting on the principles of radiophotonics (ROFAR).

This was announced by its CEO Vyacheslav Mikheev at the "Army-2020" international forum held in The Kubinka, Moscow.

Commenting on his statement, MK emphasizes that such devices can be used to make radars of much smaller sizes, which, nevertheless, will be able to see targets at many times more distance than usual.

But, most importantly, for ROFAROV do not matter the use of the notorious stealth technology on aircraft, which are the main bet in the U.S. Air Force. They are considered to be the main advantage of the very expensive (price above $100 million) American F-35 and F-22 fighter jets, which the Pentagon calls the 5th generation aircraft.

According to the unanimous opinion of military observers, the production of radar with the ROFAR system will impose the death sentence on all stealth technologies.

What's happening in response to protest against France in Pakistan ?

5 dead already your media is reporting it ?

They believe you have offended Rasool and now French deserve their head severed ( that's the literal translation of the slogans raised against France )
No special news about it in the french media. generally speaking, the french media are mainly from left side... This is the kind of news they don't like to spread.
5 deads? French ones?

There will be more Abduls in France by 2040 and eventually beheadings will stop, so there is some hope in the future. Western men have turned into cucks and loan their woman folks to Abduls whims and fancies, it is a miracle of nature that even Charles Darwin could not foresee.
Just wait 2022, or at the latest 2027. The right wing will take the presidency.... End of the left aisle game.

USA had a lead with F117 and F22.
F35 is simply too complexe. The main error was to study a single jet for 3 services. Remove the B model and you have probably a decent bird.
And the weapon system software was intended from the beginning to be able to do all (AtoA, AtoG, Sea assault, communication node, anti missile platform...). They decided not to move away by small steps. The result is a huge software, made by too many teams without the proper management and with so many releases that it's a full mess. They solve a problem, another occur.
