Qatar will have nothing to say. And the relationship with France is now colder, because France decided to fight radical islam in our soil, mainly supported by Algeria, Turkey and... Qatar !
UAE is for 15 years one of the main targets for rafale sale.
Algeria... French should have divided that country instead of running away.

"The engines on A-model F-35s have been running “hot,” or close to the limits of their design, and that heat has caused premature cracks, or delamination, of turbine blade coatings. That’s required the engines to be removed or repaired earlier than anticipated, aggravating an already backlogged depot system. The cracks in the coating aren’t a flight safety issue, but they reduce an engine’s useful life, said a defense official."

The Real F-35 Problem We Need to Solve
Unless its logistics can be improved, the jet’s contributions to a major fight will be far less than Pentagon wargamers are counting on.

When Pentagon strategists game out potential near-peer conflicts, they tend to plug in sortie-generation rates for the F-35 Lightning II that reflect the program’s original vision, not the far lower numbers that represent the actual state of things.

I thought the F-35 was the F-16 replacement? Not only the Pentagon but a General is shitting on the aircraft?

Cost, while you are laughing at F-35, we Indians are laughing at the fact that Uncle Sam offered us F-21 (F-16 Ultra Pro Max) stating it as the best 4th gen available and it has features none other have and blah blah blah, maybe they’ll make a new semi stealth aircraft just like we are making called our TEDBF, as there is no point developing a new 4th gen fighter as the difference will be only internals but USA is still pursuing with it hence I feel it will be a cost effective semi stealth 4.75 Gen aircraft aimed to replace all old airframes.

If nothing else, the USAF reconsideration of F-35 role and showing preference for a 4.5+ gen fighter vindicates beyond any doubt the assertion that 4.5 gen jets are here to stay for a long, long time.

The future of the world's fighter fleets will consist of:

> A relatively small number of stealthy 5th/6th gen jets
> Bulk of air force made up of 4.5 gen fighters that are relatively low cost and can keep up high sortie rates
> Loyal wingman type stealthy drones that can work alongside 4.5 gen jets to penetrate high threat environments for A2G missions

DARE ANYONE call any 4.5 gen jet a "4.5 gen jet" they are now renamed "5gen -(minus)" by usaf, probably because usa was obsessed with 5th gen aircraft till they realized they r too expensive too maintain and now for convenience they call 4.5 gen as "5gen-" to satisfy their urge of 5th gen fighters.(pun intended ,no offenses)

I doubt now that USAF would trust LM,I'm sure Northrop grumman would be laughing at USAF for trusting LM for f22 and f35 and not YF-23.
Though f22 was good.
But now i think Northrop would win 6th gen NGAD program

actually f22 was not exportable so for export prospects they made f35 and kept adding technology to it but as u said if they ported the f35 like sensor suite and ew capability to f22 ,f22 would be the best,but then again americans would not like to loose in exports to russia or europe where su 57,rafales are exportable,HONESTLY speaking f35 is a good aircraft with only two shortcomings
1.major software issues causing unreliability
2.costly maintenance
