I mentioned somewhere that RWR are on wing tips. I have highlighted band-2 EW aft antenna in tailplane elevators. Other EW antennas are embedded in wings, rudders.

A hot bird

Every bird has hot systems. More electronics, antennas, sensors means more cooling required. The diagrams which i shared earlier shows multiple heat exchangers. There are other generic diagrams like following:

There are fanboys in every defense forum but if this is normal thinking, then something is wrong. They are falling into the Pakistan syndrome. TAI has not even developed a scale model right now, with only 3D renders here and there.

Turkey is looking at joining the 6th generation Tempest program by BAE + SAAB + Leonardo. Plus the Tempest will use a new generation engine that is being developed between UK & Japan. Perhaps it is that confidence.

They may not be as good as F-35, but they might bring it out before AMCA. Turkey has been really fast compared to our defense programs in almost every area.

For info on the basis of LM fastafct for the f-35:

in 2020 the average volume of f-35 was 550 (January 2020: 491, January 2021 610) and the volume of hours performed was 115000 hours

in 2021 the average volume of f-35s was 680 (January 2021: 610, January 2022: 750) and the volume of hours performed was identical to 2020, i.e. 115,000 hours.

We should therefore have a lower Mission Capable rate in 2021.

It is likely that engine problems have impacted the availability of the F-35, but at the height of the 2021 f-135 crisis, 42 engines were missing. Now we have the equivalent of 680-550 = 130 F-35s that have not flown at all if we reason on the basis of the availability recorded in 2020, which is the best one so far. Then F-135 was probably not the only problem affecting the MC rate.

80% of the problems could've been avoided had F35 only had the A and C variants. It is Marine Corps variant that required massive compromises.

Why do Marine corps even need a separate air force !!

Marine corps themselves are an army for us navy.( Besides the actual US army). US navy itself has a very large airforce. Besides the actual US air force .

Americans are a very confused bunch.

No, army and marines might have some overlapping duties but they have different roles. Marines are like a quick response team that pack light and are deployed at forward positions (positions where there is currently no us military presence and no infra).

USN aviation's main goal is to establish and maintain naval supremacy. Secondary goal is 'operational' support for ground troops in a ground battle.

On the other hand, Marine aviation's main goal is to support the marine infantry itself.
So CAS and CAP missions over the marine infantry form a massive portion of their tasks, as opposed to naval engagements.

See that is the question? Why do they need separate marine infantry why couldn't US army lend them an infantry when required.

Not really.

US marines are a door smashing force, formally known as 'forceful entry'. Their entire philosophy is based around strike components as opposed to the Army that has both strike and hold components and are designed for much larger engagements.

Largest MAGTF(marine) formation that can engage organically is a division size force that can forcibly enter, establish control zones and handover to 'hold' elements of the Army.

US Army is much more tilted operationally towards creating a deeper and larger offensive force that can operate at a Corp level.

As a result, Marines are much lighter logistically than the Army when deploying directly into combat zones, and require much less support for short burst engagements. This is the reason they are chosen for Quick Reaction Forces.

US Army has no way of invading from sea( which is required for majority of the wars since US sails from another continent) and requires much heavier force posture to even start engaging the enemy. This can be seen in D-day, Vietnam and even Gulf wars.

This is also why, in any theater where US Army has operational requirement, it will either
1) Require Marines to establish control perimeter and supporting systems like ports to be in place before the Army can even land.
2) Establish permanent bases for Army to react without other services' help ex- Rammstein in Germany, Humphrey in Korea , Kuwait etc.

Nothing surprising and abnormal, Naval aircraft face such issues operating at bases near oceans or on an aircraft carrier.

Maybe more a thermal regulation problem? This bird was always over heating. At such a point the paint is affected? What about the frame (thermal cycles affect the strenght of aluminium and steel alloys) ?
