People here thinking that alliance of WW2 and help which they received have any values today are total idiots. ( then Russians and Americans should also be dearest friends.)
Why after the WW2 Soviet block and US had so much they created thousands of nukes to counter each other.
And oh please considering India's role in WW2 is also BS. Million Indian troops died FOR NOTHING. FACT.
So considering That france will always be a puppy to US for what they did in WW2 today is lame come out of it. ( for a matter of fact any country. People change countries changes. And policies changes.)

Some indian troops fought for allied force and after sometime whole india turned into soviet allly. Nothing lasts forever.

Only thing which matters is the national interest. There is no place for friendship or help in international politics.

A time of resistance
Indian participation in the war began with four mule companies being sent off to France to assist the British Expeditionary Forces in September 1939. The then-viceroy of India, Lord Linlithgow, did not consult the burgeoning Indian political leadership before doing so. This undemocratic inclusion in World War II led to Mahatma Gandhi launching the 1942 Quit India movement – mass agitations against 200 years of British rule – which was suppressed, in turn, by a brutal use of force, including firing on civilians and public floggings.

In 1940s India, unlike Britain, conscription was never introduced. Enlisting was therefore voluntary – and new recruits were ostensibly granted the power to choose whether to sign up to go to war. The British Empire, however, needed men urgently, and requirements for entry were considerably relaxed, including the acceptance of underweight and anaemic applicants – those most desperate for a steady income.

Indian responses to the war were wide-ranging and complex, as soldiers’ letters connecting battlefield to the home-front reveal. While many letters were deferential to the British Empire as economic provider, others revealed an awareness of soaring rates of wartime inflation in India, with ordinary people being priced out of food and essential items.

A “havildar clerk” or sergeant from the Royal Indian Army Service Corps wrote back home in May 1943:

Everything has gone high in price in our homeland. They have written that no cloth is available for less than one rupee per yard. We being earning [sic] can pull on somehow or other but the poor have to suffer much. But what can be done? What power have we got to do anything.

The letter, which is kept in the British Library archives which I am researching, highlights the soldier’s psychological despair of being a hapless spectator from an overseas battlefront to hunger and want in his homeland. More than 3m people died in the man-made Bengal Famine of 1943, through a combination of starvation and the associated diseases of cholera, diarrhoea and dysentery.

The famine could have been prevented had large-scale exports of food from India not been sent to war theatres and had aid arrived in time.

World War II also became an opportunity for armed resistance to British rule in India, spearheaded by the charismatic Subhas Chandra Bose. The Indian Legion in Germany and the Indian National Army in Japanese-controlled East Asia, formed from prisoners-of-war belonging to the imperial Indian Army and expatriate Indian communities, were persuaded to fight against the British to secure independence. They lost the war, but were hailed by the Indian public as heroes.

EA-18-G makes perfect sense for Indian Naval bases in A&N islands.

---

New Delhi is on the cusp of clearing a proposal for defence infrastructure building on the Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ANI). According to the media reports, the Modi government is ready with a 10-year-long “roll on” plan to create facilities for additional troops, warships, aircraft and drones on the islands, strengthening the existing military facilities. This comes on the back of news of the commissioning of INS Kohassa, an Indian naval base, at Shibpur in the Northern Andaman. Kohassa is the Navy’s third aviation centre at the ANI. It is, like INS Baaz at Campbell Bay in the Greater Nicobar, a naval air station that has been upgraded into an aviation base.

I don't know if you are from India or not but f21 or f18 are not coming. Modi know very well Americans hypocrisy. Few days ago they were planning to sanctions our HM. Either it's going to be rafale or mig35/su57. Russian ones will be the political call , and Rafale will be IAF calls. Sweden and UK typhoon is not even in the competition.

Don't be so sure... It could be F-18, which has a decent naval version too, that we need about 5 dozens.
Also AMCA & Tejas Mk2 will almost certainly be powered by the same engine as F-18.

As I said that IAF will not go for f18 for many reason primary being that is is optimised for carrier operations . I am pretty sure that Rafale will be the winner if there is no political interference.. neither f18 nor f21 was shortlisted. Typhoon was favoured over aesa radars f18 and f16. Remember the name of tender. It is multi role aircraft . Moreover last time typhoon actually beat Rafale in some specific conditions but overall Rafale was better suited for multi role capabilities than typhoon but it is as good as Rafale if not more.. American weapons have it's own terms and conditions...

True, but still, engine commonality with navy fighters as well as whole AMCA & MWF fleet is a big thing. That may be reason enough. Being navy optimised may play in its favour.

Typhoon really don't have any chance, but Rafale could end up with only piecemeal order of 36 like Mirage-2000 did... It's 60:40 towards Rafale, but nothing is guaranteed. Even 2020 US election results may play a role.

True typhoon don't have a chance but I was talking about its capabilities. In a2a role it is as good as Rafale even without aesa radar. There are many factors which are going to decide the winner primary one's - capabilities, cost, TOT. Only France can provide tot , USA has already declined engine tot.. that's why I think Rafale will win because it have capability and it can give us a good amount of tot , the only negative aspect being cost.

I don't think so.
The Mirage 2000 and Mig 29 main error : a too small fleet, will never be made again.
The future of Rafale in India is somewhere between another GtoG order of 36 and a MMRCA2+option+ Naval orders (so between 36 and 200 +/-)

Well if the French want 200 aircraft deal with India.
I want to certainly know what is in table from them?
Right now IAF chief has said something
https://www.indiatoday.in/india/sto...ke-in-india-agenda-aaj-tak-1628917-2019-12-17
And SIMPLE SCREWDRIVERSHIP and then paste MAKE IN INDIA will not go.
As for now, without MMRCA2 deal, There are complet nose parts of Falcon already produced and assembled in India. This is the only beginning of a process.
Never forget one thing from Dassault : they always made as promised : on cost, on spec, on time. Check the same with LM for exemple....
So the cost may be slightly higher than some others, but the product is already a very good one.
Just imagine IAF today with 126 more Mirage 2000-5 ....

F-18 Advanced Super Hornet will be good choice for Indian air force and navy. Rafale fighter is good fighter but too costly.

Not because f18 was from the start was designed for Carrier operations. F18 will be good for navy, as Boeing as said that f18 can takeoff with good payload from ski jump

LM makes products that are at least a generation ahead of Dassault- if they are delayed there is a good reason.

And yet, LM has ability to mass produce at a rate Dassault can only imagine. In 1990s, when Mirage-2000 were barely coming off the line at 2 a month, LM was producing 30 F-16 EVERY MONTH.

Today, Rafale are made at 2 a month with plan to go to 4 a month next year. Guess what? F-35 are produced at a rate of 10/month today with plan to go to 12 /month later this year. A 5th generation jet produced cheaper and faster than 4th gen. That is called industrial and technological might.
