MUMBAI: Passengers traveling by First Class Air conditioned coach of Rajdhani Express and August Kranti Rajdhani express can now expect better comfort and ambience that provides a contemporary look and feel.

Western Railway (WR) has upgraded First AC Linke Holfmann Busch (LHB) coach of Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on experimental basis at its Lower Parel Workshop.

WR's chief public relations officer Sharat Chandrayan said, "We have provided high class upholstery and carpet in this coach with superior "touch and feel" similar to that used in European railroads in line with the premium clientele associated with its service."

Keeping in mind the convenience of ladies and senior citizens, ergonomically designed wooden ladders have in incorporated in steps form instead of earlier metal ladders to climb up the upper berth.

He further said, "The illumination in the coach has also been improved with judicious use of advanced LED based lighting system for reading lights and pre anodized aluminum reflectors for compartment lights."

A more vibrant and pleasing color scheme has been chosen for the walls. Long lasting anti graffiti PU light blue and cream paint has been extensively used to facilitate easy cleaning of the coach.

WR has also felt the need to improve the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the lavatory. For this, oriental style lavatory floors have been redesigned for swift drainage and easy maintenance. Moreover, large scale use of stainless steel components add to the aesthetics of the coach.

He further said, "WR also plans to upgrade more Ist AC coaches of Rajdhani Express and August Kranti Rajdhani Express based on its feedback in its Lower Parel Workshop."

Why must everything be oriented towards Delhi bound stuff?

It is already a city that lives on doles!

and the city the generates all the woes for the rest of India!

Travel to the NE and you will realise why they feel as if they are in outer space!

Really?

Double deckers in the East.

Never seen them in Mumbai and elsewhere?

In fact, they are lousy!

Since you are such an avid fan of Pakistan, give the double deckers to them!

Rather than spend on a FIRST AC ticket in Rajdhani people prefer to catch a flight

There is only one First AC coach in Rajdhani and except in summer ; it is empty

Usually Govt officials travel in it either on tours or LTC

MPs travel First AC with their families (declared as assistants) FREE!

One must travel by AC First on Duronto.

He will forget air travel.

I am sold on AC First on Duronto over Air travel!

The looks of Europe should out side the train through its windows.

Look of train from outside hardly matters.

I have travelled by Rajdhani and shtabadi both when last time visited India. The smell of shit on tracks and rats having a ball literally killed me and my family when waiting for the train for ~ 30-40 minutes earlier. Then I had to lift my two luggages (15-10) kg one by one 35 steps upstairs and same downstairs jumping over people who were allowed to sleep obstructing thorough-fair to reach the right platform. The smell of sewer rivers (ganda nala) was a never failing signal of new city approaching and there were many who would become excited guessing the time of journey left with that smell; innocent people.

The toilets were with dirty 'dabba' (water tin) filthy like hell and pantry car staff would ask you for a tip when you be washing your hands the best you can.
